Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the late scratching of MASTER WHO on Friday 8th January from race number 4.
Evidence was today taken from jockey B Huppatz and trainer of MASTER WHO Mr C Pollard.
It was established the Mr Pollard was aware at approximately 4pm that MASTER WHO was lame and there was some doubt as to its fitness to race. Despite this Mr Pollard did bring the horses condition to the attention of the stewards until approximately 5.30pm.
Acting under NT 128(2)(b) stewards imposed the $500 scratching fee for the late scratching of MASTER WHO.
Stewards today interviewed Ms J Huish, licensed trainer, regarding the document of description for CHAMPION SPIRIT.
Ms Huish stated that she had previously trained CHAMPION SPIRIT and that there were outstanding monies owed for that mare. Further that as she believed she was owed monies by the connections of CHAMPION SPIRIT she had not returned the document of description.
Ms Huish was advised by the stewards that the matter of outstanding monies was a civil matter and that unless she had a legal judgment vindicating her claim, the stewards were not in a position to take any action. However the document of description for CHAMPION SPIRIT rightfully belonged to the connections and as the stewards required the document of description under the rules, Ms Huish was given a direction that the document of description for CHAMPION SPIRIT be returned by her to the connections within 7 days.
