Acting from a telephone call from Ms J Huish, trainer of CHAMPION SPIRIT (Race 1), and BELLARI (Race 2) that both horses were lame, stewards inspected the horses and deemed them unfit to start.
Ms Huish stated that both horses were fit to start at scratching time this morning and that she believes that they had played up in their yards and hurt themselves.
As a result stewards ordered the withdrawal of CHAMPION SPIRIT (Race 1) and BELLARI (Race 2) at 2.45 pm.
Rounding the first turn THE MUSE had a tendency to lay out.
1st CANT CATCH MOUSE, 2nd CINNAMIC, 3rd DESERT SAINT
Race 2 - 0-58 HCP - 1300 metres
When the gates opened CHRONOGRAPH jumped awkwardly and bumped MUGGADI.
When the gates opened SILVER PEGASUS was slow into stride.
The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon inspected MISS ZOZO which performed poorly and reported that she could find no apparent abnormality.

Race 3 - 3 YO CLASS 4 HCP - 1200 metres
Stewards questioned Ms T Halter trainer of MISS ZOZO (Race 2) and LINEBACKER (Race 3) both of which performed poorly. Ms Halter stated that have been in work for some time and that combined with the trip to Darwin and left them flat. Ms Halter was notified that if either horse performed in a similar manner in future some action may be taken.

Race 4 - 0-70 HCP - 1000 metres
Near the 650 metres LUCID REFLECTION eased momentarily off the heels of HAPPY JACKS.
S Sheargold stated that his mount BARTER ME was disappointing which he attributed in part to the saddle slipping but also he believed that the gelding did not appreciate the sand coming back in the middle stages. Further that it may have pulled up short in its action.

Trainer of STRAIGHT ACTION Mr M Hickmott was fined $50 under AR 140A for presenting that mare with incorrect gear.
When the gates opened FRAARASHARCA was severely hampered when tightened for room between JAFTICA and KOOLKANA ROAD which shifted in abruptly.
