General: Stewards questioned riders S Ridler (MITFORD GIRL), C Spry (AIR STRIKER), B Huppatz (THE KUNUNURRA KID) & N Rose (STREET RELATED) in relation to an incident near the 500 metres.  It was established that MITFORD GIRL which was racing tight, was forced to be taken hold of by it’s rider to avoid the heels of AIR STRIKER which commenced to yield ground quickly, as a result MITFORD GIRL then bumped with THE KUNUNURRA KID forcing that gelding to make contact with the inside running rail.

Further evidence was taken from Dr Jamin Fairbrother who reported that AIR STRIKER was lame in both front feet following a post race inspection.

On the evidence presented, Stewards were of the opinion that no one rider was at fault for the incident and accepted the explanation of all riders.

Trainer/Jockey Mr C Spry was advised that he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for AIR STRIKER prior to racing again.

Race 4 -  Jockey W Davis  was fined $100 for using his whip on 2 additional occasions than permitted prior to the 100m.

Race 2 -  Jockey B Huppatz  was reprimanded for using his whip on 1 additional occasion than permitted prior to the 100m.
