Race 1 - 3 YO Class 6 - 1200 metres:

The race was delayed due to a mechanical failure on the barrier stalls which resulted in the starter being unable to open the front gates.

DISC JOCKEY which cut its lip was examined by the Club's Veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

SEVEN BRIDGES dwelt when the gates opened and conceded some ground.

Racing down the back straight POWERFUL PEGASUS layed in onto BUCK N SPIN and bumped that gelding on several occasions.

Race 2 – LIGHTNING PLATE - 1000 metres:

BARSTOOL was slow into stride when the gates opened. 

Rounding the turn BULLANT had a tendency to lay out.

During the event THE SOLDIER lost it's off fore plate.

The Club's Veterinary surgeon reported OOMPA had knocked its off side eye during the event.

Race 3 – 0 - 73 HCP - 1600 metres:

The Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected REFLEX subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the near foreleg. 

The Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected CHEAP AND NASTY subsequent to the event and reported that the mare lame in the off foreleg.

1st PICLESIA 2nd REFLEX 3rd MANNING

Race 4 – 0 - 73 HCP - 1300 metres:

PELICAN HEAD and LECIA CON were slow into stride when the gates opened.

PHANTOM VERDE scrambled on jumping away.

Race 5 – SPECIAL CONDITIONS HCP - 1300 metres:

Prior to correct weight being declared N Stanley rider of REGANSBURG requested to view the photo finish.

J Cameron rider of TEST THE SCENE requested to view the stewards patrol vision prior to correct weight.

Shortly after the start AMYJAYE POWER knuckled and shortly after was bumped by KAPPA which shifted in. 

As S Scriven who had been declared as the rider of BAD BOYS was unavailable, stewards permitted D Griffin to replace him as the rider of that gelding.

Mr J Hickmott trainer of BAD BOYS was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR 140A).

Race 6 – 0 - 67 HCP - 1900 metres:

THE SLEW shifted out on jumping and tightened MANAMI out onto RAFA.  RAFA and MANAMI were further tightened for room between THE SLEW and FRANCAGINO which shifted in. 

RAFA was tightened for room for some distance after the start by FRANCAGINO which shifted in.

Race 7 – 0 - 62 HCP - 1200 metres:

Due to a clerical error ARAPAHO HEIGHTS which had been scratched in accordance with the rules by the trainer was not included in the scratching's at the prescribed time.

Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ARAPAHO HEIGHTS at 8.49 am.

On jumping away CAVALLINO shifted out and tightened ROYAL BOND out onto JERRYKOOLER.  Shortly after this EREMBOURG shifted in and inconvenienced JERRYKOOLER and ROYAL BOND had to be eased to avoid the heels of CAVALLINO. 

Near the 900 metres OLD REGRET shifted in taking CUBAN KID in onto CAVALLINO.  CAVALLINO was bumped on the hindquarters and turned slightly.  CAVALLINO and CUBAN KID then raced tight and bumped for some distance.  Towards the 800 metres CAVALLINO was turned outwards and in so doing forced CUBAN KID out onto the hindquarters of OLD REGRET unbalancing that gelding.

Race 8 – 0 - 67 HCP - 1100 metres:

Due to a clerical error COSTLYEV which had been scratched in accordance with the rules by the trainer was not included in the scratching's at the prescribed time.

Stewards ordered the withdrawal of COSTLYEV at 8.49 am.

On the turn near the 650 metres LITTLE RAPTOR had to be eased to avoid the heels of ETHBALL which sifted in.

Race 9 – DARWIN CUP - 2000 metres:

On jumping away PALMYRA BOY scrambled.

Approaching the winning post MACCAS DREAM and AWE AND WONDER had to be eased off the heels of MACCAS DREAM.  Shortly after AWE AND WONDER which was racing ungenerously was tightened on the inside of ACTIVATION which was taken in by UTILITY.  As a result as the field rounded the turn AWE AND WONDER got in onto INSTRUCTOR which in turn went in onto PALMYRA BOY resulting in PALMYRA BOY striking the inside rail and being hampered.

Shortly after the winning post R Fradd rider of SHOUT OUT LOUD was dislodged.  As R Fradd was temporarily indisposed stewards delayed correct weight until he could weigh in.

Post race swab samples were taken from all winners and Activation, He's Here, Hawks Bay, Granzig, Shout Out Loud, Brad Star, Instructor, Club Liquid.  

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for licensed trainer Mr M Hickmott entering the track whilst the field was still on the track.
