Race 1 - 3 YO Class 5 - 1100 metres:

When the gates opened MAYBE NADAL bounded.

On jumping away TRES CHERE jumped awkwardly and shifted in and bumped CHILLI ROCK.

Rounding the first turn CHILLI ROCK had to be eased slightly to avoid heels.

Mr M Hickmott trainer of CHILLI ROCK was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR 140A).

1st BLUEHARREB 2nd PADDY ME LAD 3rd DECANTER DE GRANGE

Race 2 – 0 - 58 HCP - 1200 metres:

MANANMI jumped away awkwardly and struck the side of the barriers losing ground as a consequence.

Approaching the winning post RISSIK had to be eased and was disappointed for a clear run when OFF MY FACEBOOK (C Dean) rolled in.  C Dean was reprimanded and advised that in future he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground.

During the event SUPREMATOR suffered a bleeding attack.

Race 3 – 0 - 67 HCP - 1600 metres:

After being placed in the barriers BELDIVIDERE BABE reared and struck its head.  Acting on veterinary advise stewards ordered the withdrawal of BELDIVIDERE BABE at 3.29pm.  Stewards ordered all monies wagered on BELDIVIDERE BABEto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of BELDIVIDERE BABEto be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 9 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 10 cents in the dollar.

VOLTE FACE stood flat footed when the gates opened and lost ground as a consequence.

When the gates opened SPANISH KING got its head up and jumped awkwardly and conceded ground.

On jumping away LA PARADIS shifted in and hampered MADAM SOCIALITE which had jumped awkwardly.

Mr D Leech trainer of BELDIVIDERE BABE was advised a warning would be placed against the mare and must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.

Race 4 – SPECIAL CONDITIONS HCP - 1000 metres:

On jumping away INSTRUCTOR was crowded for room between GALLIUM and HIGHTOU.

Shortly after the start BARSTOOL had to be eased over the heels of THE SOLDIER which shifted in.

Racing to the first turn GALLIUM had a tendency to lay in onto the rail.  INSTRUCTOR which was racing back on its inside was disappointed for a clear run and had to be eased.

Race 5 – 0 - 62 HCP - 1000 metres:

MASTER SHOT was withdrawn from the event after refusing to load.  Stewards ordered the ordered the withdrawal of MASTER SHOT at 4.48pm.  Stewards ordered all monies wagered on MASTER SHOT to be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of MASTER SHOT to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 8 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 8 cents in the dollar. 

When the gates opened CAVALLINO jumped away awkwardly and struck the side of the gates.  CAVALLINO then shifted out abruptly and cannoned into the hindquarters of ALCARNTSPELL turning that gelding sideways.

Near the 650 metres KIWI JIM which was racing tight between COSTLYEV and CHARLATAN PRINCE had to be eased when CHARLATAN PRINCE rolled out slightly.  KIWI JIM got its head up and raced very ungenerously from that point.

Mr S Clarke trainer of BULLANT was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR 140A).

Race 6 – CHIEF MINISTERS CUP - 1600 metres:

On jumping away PALMYRA BOY shifted out onto the hindquarters of MARCO LARGO. 

CLUB LIQUID jumped awkwardly and shifted in across AMYJAYNE POWER.

Stewards questioned P Shiers rider of HAWKS BAY regarding that gelding racing back in the field today.  P Shiers stated that he jumped away awkwardly and lost some ground and rather then get  into a battle for the lead he elected to settle midfield in part due to the number of runners likely to challenge for the lead and also as the gelding was second up and may be found short in fitness, although during the race he was further back then what he would have preferred.  P Shiers stated that rounding the turn he was disappointed for a run and then in the straight HAWKS BAY had a clear run and made good ground.  P Shiers further stated that HAWKS BAY blew on pulling up but otherwise appeared normal.

Race 7 – 0 - 73 HCP - 1300 metres:

 

ONLY FEATHERS had a tendency to lay in racing down the back straight.

Post race swab samples were taken from all winners.  

Pre race samples were taken from: PALMYRA BOY, SHOUT OUT LOUD, UTILITY, AMYJAYNE POWER, CLUB LIQUID, HONOURABLE KIND. .

 

Stewards completed the following inquiries from Saturday 3rd July.

Race 1 - R Oakford use of the whip on BUCK N SPIN.  R Oakford stated that he was unaware of runners on his inside and believed that he was in a position to run a place and for that reason used the whip in the manner he did.

Stewards advised R Oakford that his use of the whip bordered on excessive especially given that it was a 2 year old. 

Race 2 - B Huppatz use of the whip on MONDELLO.  Stewards accepted the evidence of B Huppatz.

Race 3 - D McIntosh use of the whip on INVISIBLE CITY was adjourned until Wednesday 14th July.

Race 6 - R Oakford use of the whip on JUNGLE TESSLA.  Stewards ordered that R Oakford forfeit his riding fee for excessive use of the whip on JUNGLE TESSLA which was out of contention and showing nor response (AR 137A(3)).
