Race 1 - CLASS B HCP - 1100 metres:

At the start SIENNA DIAMOND jumped awkwardly and DANCE AT ROSARIO was slow away. 

At approx the 700 metres GEELONG rolled in and tightened DANCE AT ROSARIO on the fence. 

Approaching the 650 metre turn C Haddon rider of SINGING SIREN eased off the heels of BROOKE'S BIZZO. 

During the event GEELONG raced greenly.  

Mr S Clarke trainer of DANCE AT ROSARIO was fined $20 for use of the Club's colours.

Race 2 – 0 - 58 HCP - 1200 metres:

At the start EQUITABLE lost some ground when tightened for room between THE BEAN COUNTER which jumped in and ONLY FOR YOU which jumped out. 

Shortly after the start STIRRUP CUP which was initially taken out by GLORIA, shifted out and tightened JUST RORY out onto ONLY FOR YOU.

When approaching the turn at the 650 metres STIRRUP CUP was eased when attempting a run between ONE CARAT, on the fence and THE BEAN COUNTER which was hanging. 

At the 100 metres THE BEAN COUNTER rolled in onto ONE CARAT.

Race 3 – BENCHMARK 75 HCP - 1000 metres:

Near the 250  metres PHANTOM VERDE was disappointed for a clear run on the inside of BLACKSTONE ROSE which rolled in to obtain a clear run on the inside of WRENCHER. As a result PHANTOM VERDE had to be eased near the 200 metres and shift to the outside to obtain a clear run.

Race 4 – 0 - 73 HCP - 1600 metres:

During the race GLASGOW JIM suffered lacerations on the near hind and damaged it's left fore frog.  

B Huppatz  rider of THE SLEW, had to take hold at the 1100 metres when he ran onto the heels of TIARALAE as the pace slowed. 

Ms C Angel rider of NOBLE CONNECTION was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)).  The careless riding being that at about the 1100 metres she took her mount out taking the running of FLOPITIDOP forcing it's rider P Crich to check his mount.    

MS Angel was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 26th March (1 meeting).

Race 5 – 0 - 63 HCP - 1600 metres:

Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported RAPID RUSSIAN lame in the near fore.

Post race swab samples were taken from all winners.

Pre race samples were taken from Glasgow Jim, Forethought, Common Ground, Seven Bridges, Fastizio and Rapid Russian.   

Stewards concluded and inquiry into the use of the whip by rider S Hillebrand on FORETHOUGHT on 26th February 2011.

Stewards found S Hillebrand guilty of a charge under AR 137 A(5)(a)(i), the details being that when he rode FORETHOUGHT he used his whip in the forehand manner in consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.  Stewards issued S Hillebrand with a reprimand

 Stewards found S Hillebrand guilty of a charge under AR137A(5)(a)(ii), the details being that when he rode FORETHOUGHT he used his whip in the forehand manner 5 more times than the permitted 5 prior to the 100 metres. Stewards ordered that S Hillebrand forfeit his riding fee and 50% of his winning percentage in respect of his ride on FORETHOUGHT in the race concerned.
