When the gates opened CHIC OLIVIA reared and lost ground as a consequence.

KELVINSIDE LAD stood flat footed when the gates opened and conceded considerable ground.

Stewards questioned T Walsh rider of REQUEST THAT SONG which raced wide rounding the turn. T Walsh stated that the gelding did not appreciate the sand and he believed in the race that he was three horses off the fence. Stewards advised T Walsh that in their opinion he was racing some five horses wide with no impediment to him shifting in onto the fence. Further that in their opinion racing wide on the track as he did was detrimental to his horses chance in the race and in future he should endeavour to save as much ground as possible.

Stewards notified Mr C Pollard trainer of REQUEST THAT SONG that they believed that T Walsh's riding of the gelding rounding the turn was detrimental to its chances and that in future he should endeavour to instruct his riders to ensure his horses are not ridden in a similar manner in the future.
