Race 1 – MAIDEN PLTE - 1300 metres:

When the gates opened JAY KAY TEE jumped out into IRON HAWK, taking that gelding out onto SISTER ROSETTA which in turn bumped PLYMOUTH which jumped in.

Approaching the 1200 metres THE SAILOR (B Davis) shifted in across the running of SISTER ROSETTA  which at the time was making ground. As a result SISTER ROSETTA  had to be eased.  Stewards advised B Davis that in similar circumstances in the future they would expect he take more care of fellow riders on his inside. 

Stewards advised Ms J Huish trainer of JAY KAY TEE that the mare was again uncompetitive today and that it must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.

1st THE SAILOR 2nd SISTER ROSETTA 3rd PLYMOUTH

Race 2 – 0 - 58 - 1200 metres:

AGAINST THE DAY was slow away and was then taken out sightly by MORETORQUE on its inside.

Shortly after the start SMOOTH COUPEZ (J Cameron) rolled inwards onto MORETORQUE which had shifted out slightly resulting in MORETORQUE having to be eased.  Stewards advised Ms J Cameron rider of SMOOTH COUPEZ  that in similar circumstances in the future they would expect her to take more care of fellow riders on her inside. 

LADY JINX was held up for a clear run approaching the 650 metres.

1st SMOOTH COUPEZ 2nd LADUNI 3rd AGAINST THE DAY

Race 3 – 0 – 63 HCP - 1000 metres:

When the gates opened ALBERT PARK LAKE and HAPPY MAN came together, at the same time EXPLOSIVE KISS and BELLBOOKANDCANDLE also came together. Shortly after the start HAPPY MAN and EXPLOSIVE KISS bumped several times as they received pressure from ALBERT PARK LAKE which was racing on the inside.

ALBERT PARK LAKE hung out rounding the turn. 

At approximately the 100 metres ALANA'S MATE shifted out resulting in EXPLOSIVE KISS having to be eased.

Mr S Brown trainer of HAPPY MAN was fined $20 for the use of the Club's colours (NT 121).

1st EVEN MONEY 2nd ALBERT PARK LAKE 3rd ALANA’S MATE

Race 4 – BENCMARK 75 HCP - 1200 metres:

At the start OIGLES shifted out slightly hampering WYREEMA.

PALACE GENERAL jumped awkwardly and was then taken out onto RED COUPE by NIGGLE.

At approximately the 150 metres RED COUPE rolled in slightly causing PALACE GENERAL  to change course.

Ms S Montgomerie advised the stewards that she would be unable to ride at her declared MRW of 55 kg for race 4 (ETHBAAL) and race 5 (HANNESBURG).  Steward's questioned Ms Montgomerie and her master Mr G Clarke,  Steward's ascertained with the larger break after regular racing S Montgomerie had found it harder to lose the required weight.  Steward's permitted her to fulfil her engagements today. 

Stewards fined S Montgomerie $200 (NT 91 (c)) for failing to ride at her MRW.

1st PICLESIA 2nd COSTLYEV 3rd BARSTOOL

Race 5 – 0 – 76 - 1300 metres:

When the gates opened YOSHI BOY was slow away. 

NO RANSOM had a tendancy to hang out rounding the turn.

Approaching the winning post HANNESBURG was disappointed for a clear run on the inside of NO RANSOM which was weakening.

Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary surgeon reported BARSTOOL had bled from the off side nostril.   

Ms J Cameron representative for M Nyhan trainer of BARSTOOL was advised BARSTOOL was required to gallop over 1000 metres to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again (AR53A).

Ms K Petrick trainer of QUE was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR 140A).

Ms J Robinson trainer of LIVELY LILLIE was fined $20 for use of the Club's colours (NT 121).

1st FASTER STRONGER 2nd ARISTOCLOCHE 3rd COSSACK COURT

Swab samples were taken from all winners. 

Stewards will review the film's in relation to use of the whip. 

Trainer Mr M Hickmott who was not present at the races today was fined $150 with failing to notify the stewards of appropriate representation in his absence(NT 76). It was established that Mr L Paech was representing Mr Hickmott today.

Stewards re opened an inquiry to an incident on 30th July, race 7 in relation to an incident at the 1000 metres.  Steward's questioned Ms S Montgomerie, rider of BELLBOOKANDCANDLE and P Crich, rider of NERO MACCHINA.  Steward's ascertained BELLBOOKANDCANDLE shifted in bumping NERO MACCHINA, when bumped by the other runner NERO MACCHINA got it's head up and raced ungenerously.    

Having reviewed the stewards patrol films the following inquiries were adjourned to a date to be fixed;

Race 2 - Use of the whip. R Oakford rider of LADUNI.

Race 4 - Use of the whip. M McDuff rider of COSTLYEV.

                Use of the whip. J Cameron rider of BARSTOOL.
