Race 1 – 2YO PLATE- 1100 metres:
On jumping away URIDASHI shifted in and bumped HARREB’S LUCK.
M McDuff rider of BIRCHLEY was found guilty of a charge under AR137A(3) of using his whip to excess on that gelding. It was established that M McDuff used his whip on BIRCHLEY on 30 or so occasions in the straight. Stewards advised M McDuff that his use of the whip in such a manner on a 2 year old was clearly excessive in their opinion.
Stewards acting under AR196(2) ordered that M McDuff forfeit his riding fee and percentage in relation to this race.
1st LADY SAUK 2nd BIRCHLEY 3rd PRIVATE DOWNS
Race 2 – 0 – 63 HCP - 1600 metres:
EQUITABLE shifted out on jumping away and tightened RHODES TO GLORY.
BLAZING RHYTHM jumped awkwardly and conceded some ground at the start.
Rounding the turn near the 500 metres BLAZING RHYTHM was held up for a clear run.
Rounding the turn and in the straight THE FLYING FOX had a tendency to lay out. Ms A Brown rider of THE FLYING FOX had difficulty riding the gelding out in her normal manner as a consequence.

Race 3 – 0 - 58 HCP - 1200 metres:
On jumping away SEVENTH BULLET shifted out taking SHEDLY out into OTTENS.
On return to scale C Haddon rider of SHADY STREET second place getter lodged an objection against MOUSAL being declared the winner alleging inference in the straight.
Having considered all the evidence the stewards dismissed the objection and declared correct weight.
Stewards advised the parties that although SHADY STREET was inconvenienced slightly near the 200 metres in was not sufficient in their opinion to have affected the result of the race.
The Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected CANNY CATCH ME which performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.

Race 4 – 0 - 63 HCP - 1100 metres:
CAVALLINO which took charge of the rider en route to the barriers was examined by the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.
On jumping away OIGLES shifted out abruptly taking ONE CARAT out onto HANNESBURG. As a consequence both ONE CARAT and HANNESSBURG were hampered.
On the corner near the 600 metres COLONEL JACK lost it position when racing tight between runners.
The Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected MY COMET, ONE CARAT and CAVALLINO which all performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormalities.

Race 5 WEIGHT FOR AGE - 1200 metres:
CANALI which kicked out in the barriers was examined by the Club's Veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
PIONEER PRINCE had a tendency to lay out on the turn and lost ground as a consequence.
M McDuff rider of LUCID REFLECTION was reprimanded for making a celebrity gesture after passing the winning post (NT 144).
Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected CANALI and reported that the gelding had skin off its hind legs and was mildly lame in both hindlegs.

Race 6 – BUNTINE - 1900 metres:
SPAKATAK was slow into stride when the gates opened.
Rounding the turn ROBDON FLYER was held up for a run and unable to improve its position when in behind other runners.

Race 7 – SKY CITY NT DERBY - 2000 metres:
BABY HUEY was slow into stride when the gates opened.
Ms J Cameron rider of CAN’T AGREE was found guilty of a breaches of AR137A(5) (a)(i)(ii).The breaches being that prior to the 100 metres she used her whip in the forehand manner on at least 9 occasions more then the 5 permitted under the rules and on at least two separate occasions in consecutive strides totalling 5 or 6 strikes in successive strides. Acting under AR 196 (2) Stewards ordered that Ms Cameron forfeit her riding fee and percentage for this race.
M Evans rider of DISC JOCKEY was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR 137(a)). The careless riding being that on the home turn he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of OUR IRIDUIM thereby tightening that filly and forcing OUR IRIDIUM to be checked.
M Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 23rd July (1 meeting). Stewards considered M Evans good riding record when assessing penalty.
1st THE RUFFIAN 2nd BELOW 3rd DISC JOCKEY
Race 8 - 0 – 76 HCP – 1000 metres :
As KNICKER BOCKER was unable to be loaded in the barriers the stewards ordered its withdrawal at 5.57pm.
Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on KNICKER BOCKERto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of KNICKER BOCKER to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 42 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 33 cents in the dollar.
Ms L Williams trainer of KNICKER BOCKER was advised that a warning would be issued against the mare and if it was to perform in a similar manner in future some action may be taken.
BRAIDED GENERAL had a tendency to lay out raiding the turn.

Pre race samples were taken from ROBDON FLYER, HACHIMAN, YOSHI BOY,BABY HUEY, CAN'T AGREE, DISC JOCKEY, HARBINGERS, POWERFUL PEGASUS, THE RUFFIAN, SISTER SWANK.
