Race 1 – 0-58 HCP - 1300 metres:

At the start NOT FOR PROFIT jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride and ATOMIC TIGER was also slow into stride.

THE GIFTED ONE was slow to muster speed and lost considerable ground.

P Crich rider of NOT FOR PROFIT advised the stewards that the mare felt like a different horse to when he rode her last time. His only explanation for the horses poor performance was the track today was heavier and the mare did not appreciate the dirt coming back.

Subsequent to the event the Clubs Veterinary Surgeon inspected NOT FOR PROFIT and reported she could find no apparent abnormalities.   

Ms J Robinson trainer of LIVELY LILLIE was fined $20 for use of the Club's colours on that mare (NT 121).

Race 2 – BENCHMARK 70 HCP - 1100 metres:

ADORANOVA was withdrawn from the event after refusing to load. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ADORANOVA at 4.00pm. Stewards ordered all monies wagered on ADORANOVA to be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of ADORANOVA to be paid as follows:- Deductions 1st 2nd 3rd Win 18c Place 17c 17c N/A Mr D Bates trainer of ADORANOVA was advised a warning would be placed against the mare and that ADORANOVA must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before again racing. At the start BRINKLEY BOY jumped awkwardly. ALCARNTSPELL found it difficult to muster speed and got back in the early part of the race. Mr L Paech trainer of BRINKLEY BOY advised stewards that the gelding lost its tongue tie during the event. Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected BRINKLEY BOY and reported she could find no apparent abnormalities.

Race 3 – 0 – 70 HCP - 1600 metres:

At the start TEQUILA MIDNIGHT jumped awkwardly and lost some ground.

Race 4 – MAIDEN PLTE - 1000 metres:

The start of the race was delayed due to a dog running loose on the inside of the track.

MISS ELELENI was withdrawn from the event after refusing to load.  Stewards ordered the withdrawal MISS ELELENI at 5.20pm.  Stewards ordered all monies wagered on MISS ELELENIto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of MISS ELELENIto be paid as follows:-

Stewards advised Ms E Brown, stable foreman for Mr S Brown trainer of MISS ELELENI  that a warning would be placed against the filly and  must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards before again racing.

Correct weight was delayed as Scott Hillebrand rider of BISKEY LIPS requested to view the Steward's patrol film. 

1st FRISKY ALBERT 2nd BISKEY LIPS 3rd PROPORTIONATE

Race 5 – 0-64 HCP - 1200 metres:

As there was lightning detected on course Stewards delayed the start of the race until 6.25pm. 

At the start INVINCIBLE GOLD jumped out onto MYSTICAL BOND taking that gelding out onto BUZLIGHTNING. As a result BUZLIGHTNING lost ground.

Shortly after jumping TIMELY EXIT stumbled.

Subsequent to the event Ms E Brown, stable foreman for Mr S Brown trainer of HOULGATE reported the mare had lost both front plates during the event.

Swab samples were taken from all winners.

Stewards found C Spry guilty of a charge under AR 145 of returning to scale weighing more than 1/2 kg above his declared weight on THE GIFTED ONE (Race 1) and TEQUILA MIDNIGHT (Race 3).  Steward's fined C Spry the sum of $200.

 

Having reviewed the patrol films Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the use of the whip by S Hillebrand on BISKEY LIPS in race 4.
