Race 1 – MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:
As M McDuff was to be overweight stewards permitted R Oakford to replace him as the rider of FRISKY ALBERT.
On jumping away LE SAMER shifted out onto SILVER CITY BOY which dipped on jumping. SILVER CITY BOY was then taken out onto ATOMIC TIGER which made contact with MEET BARNEY unbalancing that gelding.
As a result MEET BARNEY and ATOMIC TIGER lost ground.
Rounding the first turn near the 600 metres ZINATRA had a tendency to lay out. THE GIFTED ONE which attempted to take a run on the inside of ZINATRA was hampered for a short distance when ZINATRA rolled back in towards the fence.
During the event THE GIFTED ONE lost it's off fore plate.

GLASGOW JIM was slow into stride when the gates opened.
Subsequent to the Club’sVeterinary Surgeon inspected BANKERS LAMP which
performed below expectations and reported that she could find no apparent
abnormalities.

Race 3 – 0 – 58 - 1600 metres:
On jumping away WELCOME RETURN shifted out taking ALANA’S MATE out onto SEVEN BRIDGES.
Subsequent to the event the Club’sVeterinary Surgeon inspected SEVEN BRIDGES which performed below expectations and reported that she could find no apparent abnormalities.
Subsequent to the event the Club’sVeterinary Surgeon inspected RHODES TO GLORY which performed below expectations and reported that she could find no apparent abnormalities.
Subsequent to the event the Club’sVeterinary Surgeon inspected WAIROA and reported that the gelding had a minor laceration to its tongue and was lame in the near foreleg. Mr M Nyhan trainer of WAIROA was advised that prior to WAIROI racing again he must provide a satisfactory veterinary certificate in respect of the gelding.
Stewards questioned Ms S Montgomerie rider of SEVEN BRIDGES and Mr G Clarke trainer of SEVEN BRIDGES in regards to the geldings poor performance. Ms S Montgomerie stated that the gelding was reluctant to race. Mr G Clarke stated that he intended to retire SEVEN BRIDGES following its performance today.

Race 4 – 0 - 64 – 1100 metres:
As M McDuff who had been engaged to ride HE’S REELING was over weight and as there was no available riders to replace him stewards permitted the withdrawal of HE’S REELING at 8:00am.
Stewards found M McDuff guilty of a charge under AR 120(b) with having accepted rides for which he was to be overweight. In assessing penalty stewards took into account that M McDuff’s actions caused HE’S REELING to be a scratched.
M McDuff was fined the sum of $300
When the gates opened INVINCIBLE GOLD jumped outwards onto SKY TRAVELLER forcing that geldings hind quartes out onto KIRIKIRISH.
On jumping away NERO MACCHINA jumped out onto SINGING SIREN forcing it out onto HOLLYWOOD DREAM, SINGING SIREN and HOLLYWOOD DREAM then bumped on several occasions.
Approaching the turn at the 650 metres ADORANOVA (C Angel) shifted in slightly forcing P Crich rider of MAJOR NELSON to take hold.
Stewards questioned both riders and excepted their explanations. Stewards reminded C Angel that in the future she needs to allow sufficient room for her fellow riders.
Stewards found R Oakford guilty under AR137A(3)of using the whip excessively on TIMELY EXIT. The details being that he used the whip in an excessive manner in the straight, namely that he used it at least 25 times on the gelding which the stewards believe was excessive under the circumstances. Stewards suspended R Oakford from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight 10th December and ordered under AR196(2) that he forfeit his riding fee and winning percentage.

On jumping away I AM MAGIC shifted out onto DESERT FLARE.
