C Haddon rider of CHARGE UP was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)). The careless riding being that from shortly after the 600 metres until approaching the 400 metres he raced tight on the outside of PILOS (J Cameron), despite her calling for room. In the opinion of the stewards C Haddon raced too tight which resulted in PILOS and CHARGE UP making contact near the 500 metres which then accentuated the tightness to the extent that PILOS was badly hampered and had to be checked. C Haddon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire to midnight on Saturday 25thSeptember (1 meeting).
P.Shiers rider of ROSEBERRY TOPPING was questioned regarding him making a celebratory gesture after passing the winning post. P.Shiers acknowledged that he was aware of the steward’s direction that such actions would not be tolerated, however stated that it was a reflex action which he regretted.
