Race 1 - MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:

Rounding the first turn SUNASTRA hung out and in so doing MAUZIE and ELMEEBA which were racing to its outside both had to be eased to avoid its heels.

Rounding the turn VIEWING had a tendency to hang out.

Over the concluding stages SIENNA DIAMOND shifted in to avoid the heels of MONDELLO which rolled in.

Race 2 – 0 - 58 HCP - 1200 metres:

On jumping away DEPUTY MOON shifted in and hampered HYPHENATE.

Near the 650 metres MONTANA SPIRIT ( R Oakford)  laid out across the heels of HYPHENATE.  R Oakford reported that when he attempted to straighten MONTANA SPIRIT his saddle slipped sideways which placed him at a disadvantage for some distance.

Mr A Trengrove trainer of MONTANA SPIRIT and Mr S Brown trainer of the PINK PANZER were each fined $50 for presenting their respective horses with incorrect gear (AR140A).

Race 3 – 0 - 67 HCP - 1600 metres:

Near the 600 metres FLOPITDOP was disappointed for a clear run between MANNING and MALIBU DOLL.

1st LAST FRONTIER 2nd FLOPITIDOP 3rd MANNING

Race 4 – 3 YO CLASS 4 HCP - 1300 metres:

On jumping away SINGLE COMMAND shifted out taking RAFA out on to MADAM SOCIALITE which went out and made contact with the hindquarters of JERRYKOOLER turning that gelding sideways. 

Near the 700 metres JERRYKOOLER (S Ridler) shifted in and tightened SINGLE COMMANDS which had to be eased.  SINGLE COMMANDS got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance after being eased. 

Stewards reprimanded S Ridler and advised him that in future he must he ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground.

Stewards questioned B Davis rider of SINGLE COMMAND which finished well back in the field.  B Davis stated that he had been instructed not to lead and when the gelding got in behind other runners it did not appreciate the sand coming back.  B Davis further stated that he believed that SINGLE COMMAND would be better suited if able to race forward.

Apprentice Ms S Montgomerie advised the stewards that she would be unable to ride at her MRW today (52.5 Kg).  Ms Montgomerie stated that she had difficulty losing 1 kg leading up to the raceday and believed the cooler weather may be a factor.  As MR A Trengrove the trainer of her mount was satisfied stewards permitted her to fulfil her engagements and ride NOTIPTHIS above her MRW. 

Ms Montgomerie was reprimanded and advised that she must ensure her MRW is set at a realistic level and that she is then able to ride at that weight.

1st JERRYKOOLER 2nd RAFA 3rd NOTIPTHIS

Race 5 – 3 YO CLASS 4 HCP - 1300 metres:

FASTER BUSTER jumped away awkwardly when the gates opened. 

Rounding the turn VENUE had a tendency to lay in and over the concluding stages laid in onto LE PARADIS and bumped that gelding.

R Oakford rider of MAHAFFY ROAD was reprimanded for weighing in 1 kilogram over  his declared weight (AR145).  R Oakford stated that he had a drink after weighing out and that he had only just made the correct weight when weighing out.

Race 6 – OPEN HACP - 1000 metres:

Mr D Leech trainer of LUCID REFLECTION requested to view the stewards patrol film prior to the correct weight. 

On jumping away PALACE GENERAL was tightened between KAPPA and TEST THE SCENE both of which shifted.

S Hillebrand rider of CANALI was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)).  The careless riding being that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of LUCID REFLECTION resulting in LUCID REFLECTION having to check off his heels. 

S Hillebrand was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 3rd July (2 meetings) and fined the sum of $500. 

When LUCID REFLECTION checked near the 770 metres, it shifted out and KAPPA which was racing to its outside was hampered.

Race 7 – 0 - 73 HCP - 1300 metres:

On jumping away FLASH IN THE PAN which jumped awkwardly and got its head up, was taken out by DEPINSKY which shifted out and lost ground as a consequence.  Also on jumping away REINCARNATION shifted out abruptly forcing FASLINATION outwards onto YOUR THOUGHTS. 

Near the 1100 metres STEAL THE CASH shifted in and tightened FASLINATION in onto REINCARNATION. 

Near 1000 metres ISHIEVER had to be eased when tightened for room between AVENTINE which was shifting in and STEAL THE CASH which rolled out. 

Near the 600 metres ISHIEVER was tightened in onto DEPINSKY by STALINGRAD which rolled in.

Prior to correct weight being declared Stewards reviewed the head on patrol film to ascertain whether HIDDEN ASSETS which failed to take any part in the race had been denied a fair start.  Stewards interviewed J Cameron rider of HIDDEN ASSETS and Mr T Waples the official starter.  It was established that when the start was effected HIDDEN ASSETS had not been properly placed in its stall.  As a result Stewards declared under AR 134 A that HIDDEN ASSETS had been denied a fair start and deemed it a non runner.  Stewards ordered all monies wagered on HIDDEN ASSETSto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 6 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 7 cents in the dollar.

1st STEAL THE CASH 2nd SEYMORE SNAKE 3rd MADURO

Ms M Boothby trainer of FLY HALF which raced on Saturday 12th June advised the stewards that a number of her horses had subsequent to that day shown signs of having a respiratory infection, and FLY HALF was one of these horses.  Ms Boothby stated that she believed that this was the reason for FLY HALF'S poor performance on the day. 

 

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the use of the whip by C Dean rider of TESTAGOLD in the QBE Cup at Fannie Bay on Saturday 12th June.  It was established that C Dean used his whip in the forehand manner on 8 occasions prior to the 100 metres on that gelding.  Stewards ordered that C Dean forfeit  his riding fee for a breach of AR 137 A (5)(a)(ii).

Post race swab samples were taken all winners.  

Pre race samples were taken from Commando Ridge, Manning and Last Frontier.
