On jumping away INTOXICATING RING shifted in tightening VAULTING.
During the event NORTH QUEEN suffered a bleeding attack.

Race 2 - MAIDEN - 1100 metres
On jumping away MORTIFICATION jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 900 metres TUCAN RUBY had to be eased when taken in by CHARLIE BRAVO. Shortly after TUSCAN RUBY was tightened for room between MUST MAKE MAGIC which shifted out slightly and MORTIFICATION which was taken in by ANOTHER BAY (S Hillebrand). S Hillebrand was advised that he must ensure in future he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground.
Rounding the turn near the 600 metres MORTIFICATION had a tendency to lay in and in so doing tightened MUST MAKE MAGIC.
Trainer of DAISY GRACE Mr S Brown was fined $50 under AR140 A for presenting that mare with incorrect gear.
After rearing over backwards in the mounting yard PURE STRATEGY was withdrawn by the stewards at 4.21pm. Stewards ordered all monies wagered on PURE STRATEGY to be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of PURE STRATEGY to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 3 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 4 cents in the dollar.

Race 3 - SPECIAL CONDITIONS 2 HCP - 1200 metres
When the gates opened SPAKATAK stood flat footed and lost ground as a consequence.
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected TAIKOREA subsequence to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer of TAIKOREA Mr G Clarke was advised that a satisfactory veterinary certificate must be produced before the gelding racing again.

Shortly after the start FARRAGUT was tightened for room and had to be checked when UNMERITED rolled in away from BALLY TURF KING which was shifting in.
During the event FARRAGUT lost its near fore plate.

SEYMOUR SNAKE was held up from the 500 metres until early in the straight behind RULING TO WIN.
