The trainer of GRANDPRIX KONTENCO Mr M Hickmott notified the stewards that he would be instructing his rider to attempt to take a more forward position of the gelding today.
Shortly after the start OMYTONE was tightened for room by HARGITY which was taken out by ACCESS DENIED.
Near the 700 metres DEPINSKY was tightened slightly by GRANDPRIX KOTENCO.
The Cubs Veterinary Surgeon inspected GRANDPRIX KOTENCO which performed poorly and reported that she could find no apparent abnormality.

Shortly after the start MALIBU DOLL was tightened for room between MYSTICAL WOOD and FLYWHEEL both of which shifted ground.
On jumping away HEMI HUSSEY and BLUEGRASS came together and became unbalanced.
Also MISS SECRET got its head up and jumped out onto GENERAL CLAUDIA.
Shortly after the start FLYWHEEL had to be eased off the heels of ATOMIC CHILLI which rolled out.
ZAREENA hung out badly on the first corner. It was reported that ZAREENA pulled up lame.
Mr K Lamprecht trainer of MALIBU DOLL was notified that the mare had blood in one nostril subsequent to the event and under AR 53A is required to gallop 1000 metres to the stewards satisfaction prior to racing again.
Stewards question D Bates rider of HEMI HUSSEY which performed poorly. D Bates stated that the mare raced intractably down the back straight and than had difficulty rounding the first turn and then was reluctant to race for the remainder of the race.

When the gates opened BALLY TURF KING jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 800 metres BOGUS was taken out and bumped SPURNOVER.

Race 4 - 3YO CLASS 3 HCP - 1000 metres
P Shiers rider of HIGHTOU stated that the gelding had a tendency to lay out and for this reason he elected to switch to the outside of SLICK SPIRIT at the 200 metres rather than persist for a run on its inside.
During the event SPURNOVER lost its off fore plate.
