Shortly after the start GOLD LOTTO and MOSSGREEN bumped.  GOLD LOTTO was then buffeted between MOSSGREEN and THE FLYING FOX for some strides before having to be eased from between those runners.

Approaching the 800 metres MCKECHNIE (D McIntosh) which was racing erratically shifted in taking DEPUTY MOON in to 2 off the fence.  DEPUTLY MOON (B Davis) then shifted in and tightened NOTIPTHIS which had to be checked.  D McIntosh was reprimanded for shifting in when not sufficiently clear and advised that in similar circumstances in future he must ensure he is two lengths clear prior to shifting ground.  B Davis was reminded and advised that in similar circumstances in future he must make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders than he did on this occasion.

In the straight DANZAURA had a tendency to lay in.

Near the 100 metres GOLD LOTTO shifted in abruptly under pressure.

During the event MCKECHNIE lost a near hind plate.

As a result YUKI was inconvenienced and ANOTHER BAY made contact with the hindquarters of MORETORQUE and turned that gelding sideways. ANOTHER BAY then had to be eased off the heels of MORETOURQUE and lost considerable ground as a consequence.

Ms V Arnott rider of EREMBOURG requested to view the photo finish image prior to correct weight being declared.

The Club's veterinary surgeon inspected GOBROM and reported it had a cut in its mouth subsequent to the event.

Race 6 – METRIC MILE - 1600 metres:

Mr M Hickmott trainer of ACTIVATION advised the Stewards that he expected the gelding would settle midfield or slightly worse during the race.  From the 650 metres he has advised ACTIVATION'S rider to try to improve his position without riding overly vigorous and in the straight to ensure he has a clear run.

Mr N Dyer trainer of HAWKS BAY advised the Stewards that he would expect given that the gelding had drawn barrier one that it would be ridden closer to the lead today and expected it to be racing just behind the leaders.

When the gates opened UTILITY jumped awkwardly and struck the side of the gates causing S Hillebrand to become unbalanced.

Near the 1400 metres GNAEUS EQUUS had to ease for a stride to avoid the heels of SHOUT OUT LOUD which shifted in.

D Tootell rider of AMYJAYE POWER which was eased down over the concluding stages advised the Stewards that the gelding had a tendency to lay out in the early stages and did not appear to appreciate the sand coming back.  Further that the gelding began to weaken down the back straight and when he was well out of contention he eased the gelding down.  The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that AMYJAYE POWER was in a distressed state after the event and was coughing badly.
