Stewards questioned S Ridler rider of ISHIEVER which raced wide around the turn. S Ridler stated that when ISHIEVER got in behind other runners down the back straight the mare did not appreciate the sand coming back and began to race erratically and for this reason he shifted out wide on the track. S Ridler also stated that in the straight ISHIEVER worked home quite well and was not hampered by being behind other runners. S Ridler was notified that in this instance it was evident that his mount overreacted to the sand coming back however stewards believed that racing so wide rounding the turn is detrimental to a horses chances in a race and in future he must ensure he makes a greater effort to save ground where possible.

Mr K Lamprecht trainer of ISHIEVER was fined $50 under AR140A for presenting that mare with incorrect gear.

Stewards today questioned Mr G Leech trainer of LUCID REFLECTION which is nominated in the Palmerston Sprint and the Darwin Cup.

Mr Leech explained that LUCID REFLECTION had bruising to its feet which in his opinion was the reason for its poor performance last start. Further that he had been working LUCID REFLECTION at the beach and swimming it to keep up its fitness and he explained that by Monday or Tuesday he would be in a position to decide whether LUCID REFLECTION was going to be fit to run in either race.

Stewards advised Mr Leech that they had some concerns regarding LUCID REFLECTION'S fitness and were concerned that if it was to be an acceptor in the Darwin Cup whether it could be fit and properly conditioned for the event given its interrupted preparation.

Stewards advised Mr Leech that if LUCID REFLECTION was to be doing any fast work on the track they wished to be present. Also they would further request an update on the fitness of LUCID REFLECTION on Wednesday 29th July the day prior to acceptances for the Darwin Cup.

Post race samples were taken from all winners.

Pre race samples were taken from He's Here, Activation, Nozi, Club Liquid, Lanson, Party Crasher, Protesta, Lookout, Swepscay, Palmyra boy, Full Plate Bard and Marco Largo.
