Race 2 - MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres
Rounding the turn near the 500 metres VIKING PRINCESS was held up for a clear run behind SINGNEIL and TUSCAN RUBY.
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected PARU GOLD and reported the gelding was lame on the near fore. Mr D Bates trainer of PARU GOLD was notified that a satisfactory veterinary certificate must be produced before the gelding racing again.

Race 3 - 3 YO CLASS 3 HCP - 1100 metres
Shortly after the start MISS MONTECITO which was slow away was tightened for room and hampered by LINEBACKER which shifted out.
T Walsh rider of ABRUTZO was found guilty of a charge under AR 137(a) of careless riding. The careless riding being that after passing the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of TAKALUA, resulting on TAKALUA being tightened in onto CONFOUNDED, and having to be checked. T Walsh was suspended from riding in races until midnight on 11th July (2 meetings).
1st HIGHTOU, 2nd CHARLATAN PRINCE, 3rd CULLENS SHADOW
Race 4 - CLASS 1 HCP - 1200 metres
Shortly after the start SNELL shifted out taking JERSEY JOE outwards and tightened it onto SUDDEN TEMPTATION.
Near the 600 metres SIR HUSSONET had to be eased when tightened by PENTOOPAPER which hung out off the fence.
Stewards questioned D Robinson rider of HE'S SO SWEET after he weighed in underweight. D Robinson stated that he had all his gear that he had weighed with and believed he may have lost that much weight sweating. Stewards acting under AR 143(a) allowed D Robinson 1/2kg and declared correct weight.
S Clarke trainer of BELONG TO LOIRE was fined $50 under 140A for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear.
1st MONTANA SPIRIT, 2nd SUDDEN TEMPTATION, 3rd SNELL
Race 5 - 0-70 HCP - 1100 metres
B Huppatz approached the stewards and claimed that he had been booked to ride TOP LEVEL for trainer Mr A Trengrove. Stewards questioned Mr Trengrove and his licensed stablehand Mr J Spain.
After considering the evidence stewards were of the view that B Huppatz had been engaged to ride TOP LEVEL and acting under AR8(ll) awarded B Huppatz a losing riding fee.
TOP LEVEL broke through the front gates and after going a short distance was reboxed.
When the gates opened SCAT SINGER bounded and lost ground.
GILBEAU shifted in shortly after the start and hampered NORTH QUEEN which had jumped awkwardly and struck the side of the gates. When tightened NORTH QUEEN got its head up and shifted onto MONSAM and hampered that gelding.
Trainer K Petrick was fined $20 for using the Club's colours on SIMCONNIA.
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected TOP LEVEL and reported the gelding was lame in the near fore. Mr A Trengrove trainer of TOP LEVEL was notified that a satisfactory veterinary certificate must be produced before the gelding raced again.
Ms K Petrick trainer of SIMCONNIA was questioned re the blinkers on that gelding. It was established that the sable return had been lodged but a request had not been made for a gear change. As the blinkers first time gear change had not been made public SIMCONNIA was not permitted to race in blinkers today.
1st LAST FRONTIER, 2nd GILBEAU, 3rd SNOW BUNNY
Race 6 - 0-70 HCP - 1100 metres
When the gates opened YUKI jumped away awkwardly.
Shortly after the start BARSTOOL was bumped by RUDYARD and became unbalanced.
S Hillebrand rider of BELLBOOKANDCANDLE dropped his whip early in the straight.
Approaching the 200 metres LEGAL PURSUIT which was taking a tight run bumped ROCKY BAY.
During the event ZABULLION bled from both nostrils.

Race 7 - OPEN HCP - 1300 metres
Prior to correct weight being declared Ms V Arnott requested to view the photo finish.
Stewards opened an inquiry into the running of CLUB LIQUID. Stewards expressed concern at the manner in which CLUB LIQUID was ridden by apprentice J Riley. Evidence was taken from J Riley and Mr G Leach trainer of CLUB LIQUID. The inquiry was adjourned until 6pm Monday 29th June.
1st HE'S HERE, 2nd PROTESTA, 3rd LOOKOUT
Race 8 - 0-58 HCP - 1600 metres
When the gates opened FILTER reared and lost considerable ground and NIYAZOV was slow to begin.
Prior to correct weight being declared stewards viewed the head on vision of the start.
Near the 400 metres READ MY LIPS was held up for a clear run.
Stewards questioned B Davis rider of RIVERLEA CROWN regarding him racing so wide rounding the turn. B Davis stated that the gelding was trying to hang out.
Stewards advised B Davis that whilst they accepted his evidence that RIVERLEA CROWN was hanging to some extent, that in future he would be expected to make an greater effort to save ground on his mounts as in their view racing so wide on the track rounding the turn was detrimental to its chances of obtaining the best possible place in the field.
M Boothby trainer of RIVERLEA CROWN will be interviewed regarding that gelding racing so wide rounding the turn.
1st BUSTLING COWBOY, 2nd SHARP FILOO, 3rd SLICK SPIRIT
Post race samples were taken from all winners, Viking Princess, Sharp Filoo, Slick Spirit.
Pre race samples were taken from Bustling Cowboy, Niyazov, Slick Spirit, Carneggan Jester, Club Liquid and Lookout.
