Race 1 - MAIDEN PLATE - 1300 metres:
DAJI was kicked at the start by another runner, the Club's Veterinary surgeon reported that gelding was unfit to start. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of DAJI at 1.50pm. Stewards ordered all monies wagered on DAJIto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of DAJI to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 8 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 8 cents in the dollar.
Throughout the event VIEWING hung out.
Near the 650 metres PAPANDREOU which had a tendency to lay out had to be eased off the heels of SIENNA DIAMOND.
Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary surgeon inspected DECLARE WAR and reported the mare had minor lacerations in it's mouth.

Connections of fourth placed A WEE DRAM requested to view the official photo finish image prior to correct weight being declared.

Race 4 – WELTER - 1900 metres:
On jumping away SPAKATAK shifted in and had to be eased off the heels of STALINGRAD.
During the event URBANE BOY lost it's near fore plate.

Race 5 – 0 - 67 HCP - 1300 metres:
On jumping away STATURE was tightened for room between SUPREME SHOW and QUE both of which shifted.
Near the 600 metres TENNYSON had to be eased to avoid the heels of AVENTINE which rolled out on the corner. FAILONGE which was following had to be eased off the heels of TENNYSON when that gelding eased back.
Shortly after the start TESTAGOLD shifted in and hampered AWE AND WONDER.

Race 6 – PALMERSTON SPRINT - 1200 metres:
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected WYREEMA and advised that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg. Acting on this advice the stewards ordered the withdrawal of WYREEMA at 2.10pm. Stewards ordered all monies wagered on WYREEMAto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of WYREEMA to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 12 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 11 cents in the dollar.
Connections of fourth placed CROSSWISE requested to view the official photo finish image prior to correct weight being declared.
During the event FAR HORIZON suffered a bleeding attack.
Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary surgeon reported that STEAL THE CASH had bled from one nostril. Mr D Jupp trainer of STEAL THE CASH was advised the gelding must gallop over 1000 metres to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to again racing.
Stewards questioned M Nyhan trainer of WREEMA regarding the scratching of that gelding.
Mr Nyhan stated that WYREEMA had knocked it's off side knee in the yard and this was not detected until they were bringing it to the course. He further stated that he contacted the Club's Veterinary surgeon immediately to request that he inspect the gelding.
Stewards ordered that C Whitely rider of STEAL THE CASH forfeit his riding fee (AR 196 (2)) for using his whip in the forehand manner prior to the 100 metres in excess of the 5 times permitted and in consecutive strides. (AR 137A(5)(a)(i)(ii))
1st LUCID REFLECTION 2nd TESTAGOLD 3rd CANALI
Race 7 – 0 - 62 HCP - 1000 metres:
SHAG INDEED was slow into stride when the gates opened.
On jumping away INTOXICATING RING jumped awkwardly and bumped HYPHENATE.
GENERAL CLAUDIA was tightened for room between BLACKFORD and DEMERE which shifted in on jumping away.
CHARLATAN PRINCE jumped awkwardly and shifted out onto JAFTICA.
Rounding the early and middle part of the turn SHAG INDEED was held up for a clear run behind GREEN MANGO.
Near the 200 metres CHARLATAN PRINCE was tightened for room between DEMERE which initially rolled out slightly and HYPHENATE which had a tendency to lay in down the straight until near the 100 metres it bumped DEMERE and laid in on that gelding for some distance.

Post race swab samples were taken from all winners.
Stewards concluded an inquiry into the whip use of Jan Cameron when she rode DABBA DO TIME in the Deckbar Handicap on the 28th July.
Jan Cameron was found guilty of a charge under AR 137 5 a (i) in that she used her whip in three consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.
Jan Cameron was reprimanded under AR 137 5 a(i) and reminded of her obligations to adhere to the rules in relation to her whip use prior to the 100 metres.
