Race 1 – 0 - 70 HCP - 1600 metres:

On jumping away NOT FOR PROFIT and MAN OF THE CROWD were tightened for room between IGGI DARLING which shifted out and TIMELY EXIT which shifted in. As a result MAN OF THE CROWD had to be eased and lost ground.

During the race IGGI DARLING raced greenly and on a number of occasions rolled in and tightened MAN OF THE CROWD which was racing to its inside.

Race 2 – CLASS B HCP - 1300 metres:

AGAINST THE DAY was slow into stride when the gates opened.

B Davis rider of CELESTIAL KINGDOM stated that his mount hung out badly from near the 1200 metres and this was the reason for him racing well off the fence rounding the turn.

Trainers A Trengrove (JESTACONI) and Ms J Robinson (LIVELY LILLIE) were each fined $20 for using club colours on their respective runners.

Race 3 – 0 – 64 HCP - 1100 metres:

THE BEAN COUNTER lost it’s near fore plate during the event

ANOTHER BAY dwelt when the gates opened.

On return to scale Ms V Arnott rider of third placed THE BEAN COUNTER lodged an objection against ANOTHER BAY being declared 2ndplaced allegedly interference in the straight.

After taking evidence from the parties concerned and viewing the stewards patrol films stewards dismissed the objected and declared correct weight.

Stewards deemed that ANOTHER BAY was not fully responsible for the incident and further that THE BEAN COUNTER was not interfered with to the extent that it effected the placing.

In the early part of the straight HE’S REELING had to be eased when tightened for room between ANOTHER BAY and THE BEAN COUNTER. Shortly after ANOTHER BAY and THE BEAN COUNTER came together due to both horses shifting. Both ANOTHER BAY and THE BEAN COUNTER then became unbalanced and bumped on two occasions.

1st ROBSON STREET 2nd ANOTHER BAY 3rd THE BEAN COUNTER

Race 4 – 0 - 58 - 1200 metres:

HANNESBURG sat back in the gates when the start was affected and lost considerable ground as a consequence.

Shortly after the start SMOOTH COUPEZ rolled out and took LADY JINX out into MESSI MAGIC

Ms J Robinson who was representing Ms Petrick trainer of DISPLAY was fined $ 100 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140A)

The Club’sVeterinary Surgeon inspected SMOOTH COUPEZ which performed below expectations and reported that she could find no apparent abnormalities.

Stewards questioned Ms J Cameron rider of SMOOTH COUPEZ. Ms Cameron stated that the mare was not well away today and raced back in behind other runners which did not suit it. Ms Cameron stated that SMOOTH COUPEZ appeared to have no abnormalities subsequent to the race.

1st BELLBOOKANDCANDLE 2nd DISPLAY 3rd LADY JINX

Swab samples were taken from all winners. 

Stewards adjourned an inquiry for a date to be set into the eligibility of Bellbookandcandle in the running of race 4.
