Race 1 - MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres:
After being placed in the barriers MEASURE UP, PADUWI, BLUE RAZOO and MISTER ROUBINI broke through the front gates. B Huppatz rider of MISTER ROUBINI was dislodged and uninjured. All horses were examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.
When being placed in the barriers on the second occasion the front gates broke open and MEASURE UP, PADUWI, BLUE RAZOO, MR ROUBINI and SINGING SIREN went through the front gates and cantered for some distance.
Due to the fact that several runners had been put under some exertion and taking into account the hot and humid conditions stewards elected to postpone the race under AR 8(q) (i).
NO RACE
Race 2 – 0 - 58 HCP - 1300 metres:
Rounding the turn near the 600 metres OAHU GEM was held up for a run behind IRON HAWK when attempting to improve it's position.
During the event DORSETT lost it's off fore plate.
Subsequent to the event the Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected DORSETT and reported that gelding had suffered a laceration to it's off fore hoof.

Race 3 – BENCHMARK 68 HCP - 1300 metres:
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected MELODY STREET when it arrived on course, Stewards had been advised by Mr D Jupp trainer of MELODY STREET that it had a swelling on it's neck. The Club’s Veterinary Surgeon reported that the gelding was fit to start.
Shortly after the start AVIDSON was tightened for room by CARNEGGAN JESTER which shifted in. Near the 1200m AVIDSON had to be eased off the heels of STEAL THE CASH (C Angel) which shifted in.
It was established that shortly after the start STEAL THE CASH began to shift in when sufficiently clear however AVIDSON improved quickly on it's inside prior to STEAL THE CASH crossing that gelding, resulting in AVIDSON having to be eased. Ms C Angel was advised that in future she should be fully aware of other runners to ensure she does not cause interference.
1st STEAL THE CASH 2nd CARNEGGAN JESTER 3rd MELODY STREET
Race 4 – 0 - 69 HCP - 1100 metres:
On return to scale S Hillebrand rider of fifth placed NIGGLE was found to be 1kilogram under his declared weight.
S Hillebrand and stable foreman Mrs E Brown were interviewed. As Stewards were unable to ascertain how S Hillebrand came to be 1 kilogram under his declared weight no action was taken against either party. NIGGLE was disqualified as the fifth placegetter under AR 143 (a).
When the gates opened ALCARNTSPELL jumped awkwardly and got it's head up, shifted out and bumped SUPASON on the hindquarters.
Near the 700 metres SUPASON rolled out and tightened RAPID RUSSIAN, which was already racing tight, out onto MAJOR NELSON resulting in RAPID RUSSIAN having to be checked.
Ms V Arnott was reprimanded for making a celebratory gesture after passing the finishing post on GENERAL MAZERATTI (NT 144).
MAJOR NELSON lost it's near hind plate during the event.
Mr D Jupp trainer of MAJOR NELSON was fined $50 for presenting that gelding late in the mounting yard (AR 140A).
C Spry rider of KOOLKANNA ROAD was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 137 (a). The details being that near the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of SUPASON resulting in SUPASON having to shift out to avoid the heels of KOOLKANNA ROAD. When SUPASON shifted out RAPID RUSSIAN was tightened out onto MAJOR NELSON and inconvenienced.
C Spry was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on 12th December (2 meetings).
1st GENERAL MAZERATTI 2nd JUNGLE TESSLA 3rd KOOLKANNA ROAD
Race 5 – 0 - 63 HCP - 1200 metres:
MISS ENDEAVOUR jumped awkwardly and lost ground at the start.
Shortly after the start HIDDEN SURPRISE bucked for some distance and was eased down by the rider.
Stewards advised Mr G Clarke trainer of HIDDEN SURPRISE that a warning would be placed against the gelding and any repetition may lead to further action being taken.
In the early part of the straight ROYAL STEAL rolled out and bumped SIGNED AND SEALED.
Mr S Brown trainer of TENNYSON was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear.
1st ROYAL STEAL 2nd SIGNED AND SEALED 3rd BUMBOULINA
Post race swab samples were taken from all winners.
Following reviews of the Stewards patrol film the following jockeys will be interviewed regarding their use of the whip.
