Race 1 - 2YO PLATE HCP - 1000 metres
On return to scale D Robinson rider of second placed SEYCHELLES weighed in underweight. D Robinson should have weighted in no less than 57.0kg however weighed in at 56.0kg. As D Robinson was in excess of 1/2 kg underweight stewards acting under AR 143(a) disqualified SEYCHELLES as the second placegetter.
The amended placing's being:
- 1st - CURTSEYED
- 2nd - PADUWI
- 3rd - CLASSY BLEV
- 4th - PRINCESS PRISCILLA
Stewards questioned Mr J Hamilton (OAM) who weighed the jockeys. Mr Hamilton indicated that D Robinson had weighed out at 57.5 kg's and that when weighing he makes a notation as to the weight each rider weighs out at.
D Robinson stated that he believed he weighed in at the same weight he weighed out at and that all his gear was placed on the horse. Mr M Hickmott trainer of SEYCHELLES stated that he saddled the filly and placed all the gear he was given by D Robinson on SEYCHELLES.
As stewards were unable to ascertain how D Robinson came to weigh in underweight no action was taken.
However D Robinson who had weighted in 1/2 kg underweight on the 27th June and almost 1/2 kg underweight also on that day was advised that he must ensure he weighs back in at correct weight in future.
As B Davis was indisposed the following rider changes were permitted:
- Race 1 - GILLA GILLA - R Oakford
- Race 2 - MYSTICAL WOOD - D Bates
- Race 9 - HIDDEN ASSETS - D Bates
Shortly after the start MAUZIE which was racing greenly shifted in and bumped KING OF ROHAN.
1st CURTSEYED, 2nd PADUWI, 3rd CLASSY BLEV
Race 2 - MAIDEN PLATE - 1100 metres
On jumping away MICRO PRINCE jumped inwards and hampered A WEE DRAM.
Rounding the turn at the 600 metres MICRO PRINCE hung out and as a result had to be eased off the heels of SONO PICOLO.
J Manning trainer of FLOPIDOP was fined $50 under AR140A for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear.

Race 3 - SPECIAL CONDITIONS 2 HCP - 1600 metres
When the gates opened SPAKATAK was slow into stride.
Stewards questioned J Cameron rider of SPAKATAK and Mr K Lamprecht trainer of SPAKATAK regarding J Cameron's use of the whip over the concluding stages. Mr Lamprecht explained that SPAKATAK is a lazy horse and needs to be ridden strongly.
Mr Lamprecht and J Cameron were both advised that her use of the whip in the last 100 metres bordered on excessive and that in future she should be more conscious of her whip use and Mr Lamprecht should ensure he does not instruct his riders in such a manner as to offend the whip rules.
1st AGARKAR, 2nd FULL PLATE BARD, 3rd SWAPSCAY
Race 4 - 0-76 HCP - 1300 metres
When the gates opened OFF THE RICHTER bounded. GOLD RIDGE and MAHANGA were slow into stride.
Near the 400 metres FASLINATION was held up for a clear run behind PATERNITY.
1st PLAMYRA BOY, 2nd FRESH TELL, 3rd ONLY FEATHERS
Race 5 - 0-62 HCP - 1200 metres
Over the concluding stages JUST RORY shifted out taking BABY DEAN out.
R Oakford rider of BABY DEAN was found guilty of a charge under AR 137A (1) with excessive use of the whip on that gelding. R Oakford was fined the sum of $400.
S Ridler rider of HERE WE GO was fined $200 for striking that horse on the head with his whip (AR 137(2)(a))
During the event CINNAMIC suffered a bleeding attack.
1st PELICAN HEAD, 2nd MYSTICAL WOOD, 3rd PILOS
Race 6 - 0-62 HCP - 1200 metres
When the gates opened HOT CAKES was slow into stride.
On jumping away RUFFS shifted out and tightened AKA JANE out onto TAKE YOUR SEAT which was taken in by TARCOOLA JEWEL.
Near the 600 metres MR KNOCKABOUT became unbalanced when racing on the inside of CHAMPION SPIRIT and lost ground.
Rounding the turn CHAMPION SPIRIT was held up for a clear run.
1st TAKE YOUR SEAT, 2nd TARCOOLA JEWEL, 3rd CHAMPION SPIRIT
Race 7 - 0-70 HCP - 1600 metres
Near the 1000 metres RED PULSE shifted out and bumped RIVERLEA CROWN taking that gelding out onto LET GO JOHNNY.
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon reported that CAPE CLINTON was lame in the near fore. Mr S Brown trainer of CAPE CLINTON was notified that a satisfactory veterinary certificate must be produced prior to that gelding racing again.
1st OUR CHINA PLATE, 2nd BENNETTS LANE, 3rd LET GO JOHNNY
Race 8 - 3YO HCP - 1600 metres
On jumping away HONOURABLE KIND jumped outwards onto SUDDEN TEMPTATION. Shortly after this ARAPAHO HEIGHTS was taken out by MOON MISSION across HONOURABLE KIND causing that gelding to lose its running.
Also on jumping away ACADEMY MAGIC shifted out onto QUE.
Near the 1500 metres MANHATTEN JAZZ and ARAPAHO HEIGHTS bumped. Shortly after this MOON MISSION shifted out and bumped ARAPAHO HEIGHTS.
Near the 1400 metres ARAPAHO HEIGHTS got its head up and raced ungenerously when being eased.
Rounding the later part of the home turn HONOURABLE KIND was held up when unable to gain a clear run.
The Clubs Veterinary Surgeon inspected ARAPAHO HEIGHTS and could not find any apparent abnormalities.
S Sheargold rider of MANHATTEN JAZZ was found guilty of a charge of careless riding (AR137(a)). The careless riding being that after passing the 1000 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ARAPAHO HEIGHTS resulting in ARAPAHO HEIGHTS having to be checked.
S Sheargold was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Wednesday 15th July 2009 (2 meetings).
W Davis rider of HONOURABLE KIND advised the stewards that after being slow away the gelding failed to muster early speed and was reluctant to race with the sand coming back. W Davis further stated that he believed that with the experience on the track surface he would expect HONOURABLE KIND to improve at its future starts.
1st HAWKS BAY, 2nd SHOUT OUT LOUD, 3rd QUE
Race 9 - WELTER - 1600 metres
On jumping away AUSTPAK shifted out taking OOMPA out across the running of TESTAGOLD which had been slow to begin.
Near the 1000 metres OOMPA was tightened for room by BARTER ME which shifted in. As a result OOMPA bumped AUSTPAK and took that gelding in onto KAPPA.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into G Lefoe rider of PERIDUKI use of the whip in the straight.
1st PERIDUKI, 2nd LUCID REFLECTION, 3rd TESTAGOLD
Post race samples were taken from all winners, Seychelles and Swepscay.
Pre race samples were taken from Academy Magic, Aprapaho Heights, Chosen One, Francagino, Hawks Bay, Honourable Bay, Hourable Kind, Manning, Moon Mission, Que, Shout Out Loud, Sudden Temptation, Manhattan Jazz.
