Race 1 – 3YO CLASS 5 HCP - 1100 metres:
SEVEN BRIDGES stood flat footed when the gates opened and conceded some ground.
Rounding the turn LADY JINX had a tendency to hang out and raced wide as a consequence.
EMBOLDENED attempted to jump the crossing at the 200 metres.
C Moon rider of THE GHOST was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, AR 137(a). The careless riding being that near the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of LADY JINX, resulting in LADY JINX having to be checked.
C Moon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Wednesday 13th July (1 meeting). Stewards took into account C Moon's good recent riding record when deciding penalty.
1st EMBOLDENED 2nd I AM MAGIC 3rd THE GHOST
Race 2 – 0 – 58 HCP - 1000 metres:
Ms L Hopwood replaced P Crich as the rider of HOLDING THE FORT after the declaration of riders as P Crich was declared as the rider of HOSTILE ELEMENT.
On arrival at the barriers PLYMOUTH was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding was lame in the near hind leg. Acting on this advice stewards withdrew PLYMOUTH at 2.46pm. Stewards ordered all monies wagered on PLYMOUTHto be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of PLYMOUTH to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 3 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 3 cents in the dollar.
HOLDING THE FORT jumped out at the start and bumped DREAM FACE.
Near the 900 metres EXPLOSIVE KISS rolled in onto SNOOP and then shifted out and inconvenienced WINEHOUSE.
Mr S Clarke trainer of PLYMOUTH was fined $50 for failing to lodge a stable return for that gelding declaring the correct nominators for that gelding (AR 56(a)).
C Moon rider of DREAM FACE was found guilty of a charge or reckless riding, AR 137(a). The reckless riding being that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when aware that he was not sufficiently clear of EXPLOSIVE KISS and SNOOP. As a result EXPLOSIVE KISS and SNOOP had to be checked.
C Moon was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 23rd July (3 meetings) and fined the sum of $500.
Stewards considered the penalties handed down to C Moon in respect to Race 1 and Race 2 and deemed that they be served concurrently.
1st DREAM FACE 2nd WINEHOUSE
Race 3 – 0 – 63 HCP - 1300 metres:
SEYMOUR SNAKE and TOWILIMI DUDE were slow to begin when the gates opened .
On jumping away LIVELY LILLIE was tightened for room between DONUT and VENUE both of which shifted ground.
Approaching the winning post MAJOR NELSON rolled out and inconvenienced STAR OFTHE CENTURY.
Ms J Cameron rider of MR BUTTERSCOTCH was found guilty of a charge under AR 137A(5)(a)(i) in that she used her whip in the forehand manner on at least 4 consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.
Acting under AR 196(2) Stewards ordered Ms J Cameron forfeit her riding fee and half of the riding percentage in respect of this race.
Mr M Hickmott trainer of ALCARNTSPELL and STAR OFTHE CENTURY was fined $20 per runner for use of the Club's colours (NT 121).
Ms J Robinson trainer of LIVELY LILLIE was fined $20 for use of the Club's colours (NT 121).
1st ALCARNTSPELL 2nd MR BUTTERSCOTCH 3rd MAJOR NELSON
Race 4 – 0 - 69 HCP - 1100 metres:
MISS ICELAND jumped awkwardly when the gates opened and lost some ground.
On the turn near the 650 metres ETHBAAL shifted in across the running of OIGLES. OIGLES then began to race ungenerously and hung out, OIGLES raced ungenerously for some distance and lost ground as a consequence.
OIGLES was examined by the Club's Veterinary surgeon who reported that he could find no apparent abnormalities.
Mr M Hickmott trainer of BESOFABULEUX was fined $20 for use of the Club's colours (NT 121).
1st KNICKER BOCKER 2nd NO RANSOM 3rd HIGHTOU
Race 5 – SC HCP - 1100 metres:
On return to scale R Oakford rider of fourth placed HIDDEN SURPRISE lodged an objection against COSTLYEV being declared second placegetter alleging interference approaching the winning post. Stewards having considered all the evidence dismissed the objection and declared correct weight.
WRENCHER jumped away awkwardly and lost some ground.
Ms C Angel rider of COSTLYEV was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, AR 137(a). The careless riding being that over the concluding stages she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of HIDDEN SURPRISE resulting in that gelding having to be checked.
Ms C Angel was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Saturday 16th July (2 meetings).
BULLET PROOF suffered a bleeding attack during the event.
1st THE SOLDIER 2nd COSTLYEV 3rd KISRAK
Race 6 – CHIEF MINISTER’S CUP - 1600 metres:
On arrival at the course ONLY FEATHERS was examined by the Club's Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the gelding had swelling in the forelegs and was not fit to start. Acting on this advice Stewards ordered the withdrawal of ONLY FEATHERS at 3.48pm. Stewards ordered all monies wagered on ONLY FEATHERS to be refunded and all monies wagered on the event prior to the withdrawal of ONLY FEATHERSto be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 9 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 12 cents in the dollar.
Approaching the first turn near the 1400 metres TAN TAT JET got it's head up when being restrained.
Steward's questioned M Evans rider of TAN TAT JET regarding his use of the whip. M Evans was reminded of his responsibilities in relation to the use of the whip to ensure he does not use it excessively or unnecessary.
The Club's Veterinary Surgeon inspected SOUND OF NATURE which performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormalities.
1st PALMYRA BOY 2nd MONTEGO BAY 3rd BOLTON
Race 7 – 0 - 76 HCP - 1600 metres:
On jumping away ALPHA GOLD shifted out and tightened TEST THE SCENE out onto PELICAN HEAD, resulting in TEST THE SCENE having to be checked.
Rounding the turn from the 600 metres to the 400 metres TEST THE SCENE raced tight on the inside of PELICAN HEAD (B Huppatz).
B Huppatz stated that his mount had a tendency to lay in but he believed he allowed sufficient room for the runners on his inside. Stewards reminded B Huppatz of his obligation to ensure other riders have sufficient room in similar circumstances in future.
Near the 100 metres SNEAKY SQUIRREL rolled in and bumped GLASGOW JIM.
Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the use of the whip by M McDuff rider of SNEAKY SQUIRREL
