Race 5 – Benchmark 54 Handicap 1300m

Trainer P Cole reported OLD STORMY had received a injury to its near fore tendon and has now been retired.


WHISTLE STOP (S Ridler) – Commenced awkwardly.  Bumped with another runner near the 1400m.

MORE THAN FRANK (F Bergstrand) – Bumped with another runner near the 1400m.

RACE 2 - 0 - 64 HANDICAP 1200M

ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (R Oakford) – Bumped at the start.

TEQUILA RED (S Ridler) – Slow into stride.  When questioned regarding the gelding’s unplaced performance, rider advised that his mount failed to stretch out in the early and middle stages despite his efforts but did make up moderate ground in the straight.  A post race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no abnormalities.

AUSSIE BOB (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped at the start.

RIBERA DEL DUERO (K Brooks) – Eased passing the 700m.

Plating change: AUSSIE BOB – Concussion plates in front.


BRIMARVI CUGAT (M Tyndall) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide from the 600m.

DOUGLASSED (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped at the start.

CLAIR (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start.

RACE 4 - 0 - 70 HANDICAP 1100M

MULTIZONE (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped at the start.

GIRLS AWAY (B Huppatz) – Refused to be loaded into the barriers and was declared a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 4.55pm.  Trainer G Clarke was advised that the mare must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

The following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 4:55pm.

TIPSY ON RED (M Tyndall) - Bumped at the start.

WOOGIE (R Oakford) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start.  Tightened for room and restrained leaving the 800m.  Got its head in the air and lost ground near the 700m due to the kick back.  The mare returned with a laceration to her off side thigh.

General - On inquiry jockey V Arnott (KING DEJOUR) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that when leaving the 800 metres she permitted her mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in WOOGIE (R Oakford) being tightened for room and restrained.

V Arnott’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one (1) NT meeting commencing midnight tonight, 10th December 2016, and to expire midnight 17th December 2016


Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in regards to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey as his stable had 3 runners in the event.

LE DEZALEY (F Bergstrand) – Proved difficult to load.

MIGHTY TAX (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped at the start.

MOUSSAMBANI (K Brooks) – Bumped at the start.

SHINSKY (B Huppatz) – Rider accidentally dropped his whip over the concluding stages.

TENNESSEE OUTLAW (R Oakford) – Dwelt at the start.  Raced wide throughout.


Post race samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from: WHISTLE STOP, KING KEV, MORE THAN FRANK, DASH ABOUT.


Race 2 – Jockey B Huppatz was fined $100 for using his whip on 2 more occasions than permitted prior to the 100m – AR137A(5)(a)(ii).




Race 4 – Jockey V Arnott suspended for 1 NT meeting for careless riding – AR137(a).


Race 4 – GIRLS AWAY – barrier trial, refused to load.
