Doctor David (P Shiers) – Withdrawn with the permission of the Stewards on race morning when found to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer G Clarke was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

Tequila Red (C Spry) – Slow to muster early speed.


Race 2 0-58 Handicap 1200m

Brown Coal (S M Brown) – Raced wide throughout.

Palace Spin (V Arnott) – Rider was reminded of her obligations under AR137(b) to ensure that she rides her mounts out to the end of the race.

Dust 'n' Diamonds (K Gladwin) – Taken outwards passing the 200m to secure clear running.

Race 3 0-70 Handicap 1100m

Set for a Bundle (S M Brown) – Raced wide throughout. Following the race the Starter reported that after the field had left the barriers he noticed that a tongue tie had been displaced and confirmed that the gelding consequently raced without this gear.

The Concorde (P Shiers) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Furious Jet (B Huppatz) – Slow to muster early speed.

Short Shift (C Spry) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount lay outwards from the 600m and was consequently under pressure on straightening. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4 TROBIS Class B Handicap 1100m

She's Nice (K Gladwin) $14 – Was declared a late withdrawal at 3.12pm acting on veterinary advice that the mare had developed swelling to the off fore leg. Trainer M Rumble was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to racing again.

Stewards ordered that all wagers placed on SHE’S NICE be refunded. All successful bets placed prior to 3.12pm were subject to the following deductions:

Be Home Soon (R Oakford) – Raced wide on straightening.

Cash Leakage(S Ridler) – Returned with a laceration to the near hind leg.

Kalimna (S M Brown) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Poet's Choice (F Bergstrand) – Bumped at the start and tightened for room shortly after. Raced wide throughout.

Poinsettia (B Huppatz) – Rider reported that after bumping with another runner near the 700m his mount commenced to race keenly and as a result mistrode after improving onto heels passing the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer B Richard was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to racing again.

Alpha Mate (D Pisani) – Commenced awkwardly.

Makowsky (NZ) (B Davis) – Bumped at the 700m.

Race 5 0-64 Handicap 1000m

Heirdom (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly.

Lead Husson (M Tyndall) – Carried inwards and impeded near the 700m.

Sparkling Vixen (B Huppatz) – Raced wide throughout.

General: On inquiry jockey W Davis (GLOBAL ICON) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift inwards near the 700m resulting in LEAD HUSSON (M Tyndall) being carried inwards and impeded.

Race 6 QBE Cup 1200m

Ship's Captain (K Gladwin) $4.60 – Was declared a late withdrawal at 4.42pm on veterinary advice after the gelding was bleeding from the mouth after sustaining a laceration to the tongue prior to being presented in the saddling enclosure.

Stewards ordered that all wagers placed on SHIP’S CAPTAIN be refunded. All successful bets placed prior to 4.42pm were subject to the following deductions:

Your Excellency (P Shiers) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have cast its near hind plate and to be lame in that leg. Trainer T Halter was advised that she must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

Kayno (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly and veered inwards at the start.
