General from Alice Springs meeting 7th April: Stewards interviewed jockey F Bergstrand as to a reason she failed to weigh in as required under AR142, after running second in the Ladbrokes Handicap 1600 metres. Whilst Stewards accepted her explanation, they were also mindful that she needed to get to the airport for her flight home. Stewards issued F Bergstrand with a reprimand and also reminded her to ensure that she has been cleared to leave.

TRYSTOFF (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly knuckling slightly and bumping with a runner. Raced wide throughout.

Correct weight for this event was delayed after C Spry rider of the third placegetter requested to see the Stewards patrol footage down the straight.

General: Stewards inquired into an incident at the 1200m where TRUFFLE HUNTER lost ground. Evidence was taken from K Gladwin (TRUFFLE HUNTER) and B Davis (PATRIA). It was established that approaching the 1200m, PATRIA had shifted inwards onto TRUFFLE HUNTER causing that rider to restrain his mount. B Davis was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that approaching the 1200m, he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of TRUFFLE HUNTER, resulting in that rider having to restrain his mount and losing ground. B Davis had his licence to ride in races suspended to expire midnight 21st April (1 NT meeting). B Davis was also fined the sum of $500. Stewards when deliberating on penalty, took into consideration that this was a feature race on day 1 of the Alice Springs Cup Carnival.
