TRAVEL IN STYLE (D Ballard) ($2.30) Prior to correct weight being declared Stewards considered an application by jockey D Ballard that his mount had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence and viewing the head on patrol film it was established that the gelding had been fractious prior to the start and got its head down in the barriers. As the start was effected a barrier attendant had hold of the gelding’s head and jockey D Ballard was unbalanced and had hold of the barrier petition with his right hand. The gelding subsequently was unable to jump with the field and after commencing awkwardly losing considerable ground, the rider lost the use of both irons. Acting under the provisions of AR 134A Stewards declared the gelding a non – starter and the following deductions were applicable to all successful bets.
