ZOCALOS(Z Gibbs) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
General: Following the race apprentice Z Gibbs reported that when his mount threw its head back at the start it had struck him in the face. The Paramedics examined the apprentice and he was cleared to take his ride in Race 2.

Gibbs) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.
WOOGIE (B Davis) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was off the bit in the early stages and raced ungenerously passing the 900m due to the kickback and in his opinion raced in a flat manner. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities although the mare did return with blood in its mouth.
RAKITIKI (J Lyon) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was unsettled in the gates and was consequently slow into stride after being crowded for room at the start. He added that in his opinion the gelding was not suited to racing back in the field and did not appreciate the kickback in the early stages so he elected to shift his mount outwards in the back straight and raced wide from thereon. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.General: Following the race the Paramedics again examined apprentice Zack Gibbs and he was subsequently ruled unfit to fulfil his remaining engagement and the following riding change was approved: Race 3 – DOOKIE EXPRESS (F Bergstrand)

FRANK'S REWARD (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly.
QUE PASA (S Ridler) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground.
TSAVORITE (K Cross) - Commenced awkwardly.
REMODIFY (R Vigar) – Lay outwards when tested with the whip in the straight.
BLACK ENERGY (V Arnott) - Commenced awkwardly.

WREAKED (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly. Resented the kickback between the 800m and the 600m.General: Following the event jockey S Ridler returned to the saddling enclosure in distress after being struck in the lower abdomen by a racing plate during the running of the race. Lyon) – Raced wide from the 800m.
UNBREAKABLE (B Davis ) – Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer M Hickmott was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.
HARREBS TIME (R Vigar) – Raced wide from the 1000m.
ROYAL REQUEST (J Todd) – Held tight and impeded near the 500m.
ABU DHABI (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly.ADJUSTER (K Cross) - Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer K Rogerson was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to racing again.

Stewards interviewed trainer N Dyer in regards to
the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey as his stable had three
runners in the event.

TOSS AND TELL (P Shiers) – Raced wide throughout. Cast the near fore plate in running.GIRL HAPPY (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground.
Post race samples were taken from all winners and PRETTY BLONDE. Pre race samples were taken from ICEFLOW, MAVERICKS, BANCROFT, RAKITIKI, KIFAAH, GRAB FOR POWER, GIRL HAPPY, MIGHTY ACTION & all runners engaged in race 6.
