Race 1: 0-70 1300m

CADMAN (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M Rumble expressed disappointment in the performance and advised that as the gelding had recovered well he will now consider a gear change/s for the gelding at its next race start.

MURHY (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

PERPETUAL BLISS (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly.

OUR SWAGMAN  (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 2: 0-58 1200m

CHOICE APPROACH (F Bergstrand) – Raced wide throughout.

TANTRIC (J Lyon) – Veered outwards and bumped another runner shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

GOD FORBID (P Denton) – Bumped heavily and buffeted between runners shortly after the start. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that after the heavy bump at the start his mount failed to respond to his urgings and despite racing wide but with cover the gelding dropped the bit mid race and yielded ground in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Petrick agreed that in her opinion the gelding had not appreciated receiving interference at the start and this had affected its performance. She further added that the gelding had recovered well and would race again in 2 weeks.

VIOTTI (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

VOLUTO (B Sweeney) – Bumped and crowded at the start.

ALPHA MINT (K Cross) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

Race 3: 0-64 1100m

ZAP (J Lyon) – Slow into stride and then baulked shortly after the start and unbalanced the rider.

HOT DEMAND (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly and lost ground.

RUSTIC DEBUTANTE (J Todd) – Resaddled behind the barriers. Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout.

ROCKMEARTIE (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout

Race 4: Maiden  1100m

At the request of SKY channel this race time was amended to 3:50pm.

QUAM (J Maskiel) reared behind the barriers and dislodged the rider. In this incident the gelding struck its head heavily on the ground and was declared a late withdrawal at 3:51pm by order of the Stewards. All monies wagered on QUAM were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to all successful bets placed prior to 3.51pm -

Trainer P Johnston was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance for the gelding and it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

FROM FIFTH (B Sweeney) – Raced keenly into the 700m turn.

DR HOMER (M Tyndall) – Raced wide on straightening.

MISS DONATELLA (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout.

OUR SHEMARA (K Cross) – Eased leaving the 600m and lost momentum.

Following the race jockey J Maskiell was stood down on the advice of the Paramedics.

Race 5: Maiden 1100m

BORLUNG (F Bergstrand) – Veered inwards and bumped at the start.

PREEMPTIVE (R Vigar) – Bumped inwards at the start. Raced wide throughout.

SNAPPY TIME (J Todd) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.

POWERSTRETCHER (B Huppatz) – Lay outwards when tested with the whip in the straight.

TRYSTOFF (P Shiers) – Slow into stride.

OH SO CLASSY (M Tyndall) - Raced wide throughout.

Race 6: Open 1200m

 

ROYAL REQUEST (J Todd) – Slow into stride.

CANON DIABLO (B Sweeney) – A post race veterinary examination revealed an near fore tendon injury. Trainer P Cole was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance and the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer reported the gelding will be retired.

JACKANORY (J Lyon) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount raced in a flat manner. Trainer D Leech reported that the gelding had recovered well after the event and would not start in a race for at least 2 weeks.

BEDISGUISED (K Gladwin) – Returned with an ulcerated left eye.

HARREBS TIME (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 7: 0 - 58 1600m

Jockey P Shiers replaced J Maskiell as the rider of PLANET AMERICA.

Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in relation to the riding instruction he intended to issue as his stable had multiple runners in this event.

WICKED RHYTHM  (F Bergstrand) – Steadied inwards from heels near the 400m.

DALEHILL (S Ridler) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off fore. Trainer G Clarke was advised the he must present a veterinary clearance for the mare prior to racing again.

HEAZSO (M Tyndall) -  Trainer advised of a change in riding tactics for the gelding to be ridden more prominently if possible.

FRITZ ‘N’ SAUCE (B Huppatz) – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Following the uncompetitive performance trainer H Lehmann undertook to barrier trial the filly and experiment with a gear change/s prior to racing again.

Swab samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from CADMAN, RAKITIKI, BIG BLOWS, ZAP, DUST ‘N’ DIAMONDS, DR HOMER, ROYAL REQUEST, JACKANORY, NEUSCHWANSTEIN, SPARTAN EAGLE, PLANET AMERICA & DALEHILL.
