Race 1  Mecure Alice Springs Resort Maiden Plate  1200 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in relation to the riding instructions she intended to issue bearing in mind she had multiple runners in the event.

BARKLEY (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly. Lost ground at the 200m after rider took hold when attempting a run along the inside of a runner.

BRAZILLIANT (M Hagley) – Inclined to race greenly in the early to middle stages of the event. Attempted to run outwards at the 600m causing its rider some difficulties in keeping the gelding straight. Trainer D Oxlade was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, it must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a more tractable manner.

DOOKIE EXPRESS (W Kerford) – Bounded out of the barriers bumping with another runner. Inconvenienced for clear running about the 900m. Rolled in slightly at the 200m.

FROM FIFTH (J Todd) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

HAYMAN (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

WINGARD (P Denton) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

General: Stewards inquired into an incident at the 200m after BARKLEY (C Spry) lost ground. Evidence was taken from C Spry and W Kerford (DOOKIE EXPRESS). It was established that whilst DOOKIE EXPRESS did roll in slightly at the 200m, BARKLEY was a little reluctant to take the run along the inside of that runner, shifting outwards onto the heels of DOOKIE EXPRESS, resulting in its rider having to take hold.
