As Jockey C Spry was overweight he was replaced on the following:

R1 TEQUILA RED (B Huppatz) and R4 OH SO JAZZY (S Altieri). He was subsequently fined $100 under AR120(b).

Jockey R Vigar failed to arrive on course in time to fulfil his engagement in R1 on WOOGIE and had to be replaced by R Oakford. He was subsequently fined $200 under AR91.

RACE 1: 0 - 76 HCP 1300M

The start time of this race was amended to 2.31pm at the request of SKY.

KING KEV (K Brooks) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.

PENDLES (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly. Cast both front plates near the 1000m. Returned to the mounting enclosure bleeding from an abrasion sustained to the near fore frog. Trainer J Manning was advised he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the gelding prior to racing again.

MORE THAN FRANK (F Bergstrand) – Lay inwards under pressure in the straight with the rider having to stop riding and straighten her mount near the 250m.

MAKOWSKY (S Altieri) – Commenced awkwardly.


Stewards interviewed trainer P Cole in regards to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey as his stable had three runners in the event.

CHICO BUBBLES (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly.

IWAUNA (R Oakford) – Raced wide throughout.

LE DEZALEY (R Faehr) – Dipped at the start. Raced wide throughout.

MISTER BLEVAL (F Bergstrand) – Lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

THE ROUGH DIAMOND (B Huppatz) – Compounded through the middle stages. Returned lame in the near fore leg. Trainer C Pollard was advised that he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the gelding prior to racing again.

FLAMES OF LIFE (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced in restricted room near the 700m.

BELLA GIULIETTA (S Altieri) – Slow into stride. Cast its near hind plate in running.

BUSH CHOOK (R Vigar) – Veered outwards at the start.


CAPTAIN PUNCH (R Oakford) – Fractious prior to the start. Commenced awkwardly and lost ground.

AFRICAN PULSE (M Tyndall) – Bumped by another runner and unbalanced rounding the first turn. Impeded on straightening.

HUSSARS (S Altieri) – Lay outwards and bumped another runner rounding the first turn.

RED MAGNET (K Brooks) – Tightened and steadied near the 700m.

General : On inquiry it was established that near the 700m HUSSARS (S Altieri) lay outwards and bumped AFRICAN PULSE (M Tyndall) which in turn shifted out resulting in  RED MAGNET (K Brooks) being tightened for room and steadied.

RACE 4 - 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1000M

TENNESSEE OUTLAW (R Oakford) – Bumped and unbalanced at the start.

EDGE OF CHAOS (K Brooks) – Following a reported stable mishap, the gelding underwent a pre race vet examination and was cleared to compete. Raced wide throughout.

MI BEL FIO (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

MY COLLEAGUE (F Bergstrand) - Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

LUNAR JOY (R Faehr) – Crowded and bumped at the start.

OH SO JAZZY (S Altieri) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 5 – 0-64 HANDICAP 1600M

BRIMARVI CUGAT (M Tyndall) – Slow into stride. Bumped at the 1000m. Raced wide throughout.

TIPSY ON RED (F Bergstrand) - Raced wide throughout.

SHINSKY (B Huppatz) – Crowded and bumped at the start.

DASH ABOUT (R Faehr) – Bumped at the 1000m.


Post race samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from all runners engaged in race 5.
