Race 1: MGA Insurance Brokers (NT) Maiden Plate (1000m)

ANOTHER MAN’S LOSS (K Gladwin) – Underwent a veterinary examination prior to leaving the enclosure after making contact with a fence in the saddling area and was cleared to compete. Yielded ground in the straight.

MAGIC GREG (R Oakford) – Bumped at the start. Lay inwards throughout running.

MAKOWSKY (NZ) (B Huppatz) – Crowded and steadied near the 800m. Impeded inside the heels of a tiring runner near the 350m.

THE ROUGH DIAMOND (S Brown) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Tightened for room and steadied leaving the 800m.

YA CRACKIN’ JOKES (S Cahill) – Lay inwards in the early stages and consequently had to steady from heels leaving the 900m. Lay inwards in the straight with the rider changing the whip to his left hand at the 250m.

ALPHA MINT (J Todd) – Raced wide throughout.

CHARLIE BELLE (M Tyndall) – Commenced awkwardly.

HANTUCHOVA (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

General: On inquiry it was established that leaving the 900m CHARLIE BELLE (M Tyndall), despite the efforts of its rider, shifted in and away from POET’S CHOICE (W Davis) causing interference to MALOWSKY (B Huppatz) and THE ROUGH DIAMOND (S Brown).

Race 2 - Blackadder Financial Services Handicap (1200m)

OLD STORMY (K Gladwin) – Bumped at the start.

THE PRESTIGE (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.

BE HOME SOON (R Oakford) – Bumped at the start.

SWIMMER (R Prest) – Raced wide throughout.

THE WILD SIDE (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

MITFORD GIRL (B Huppatz) – Bumped heavily at the start.

Race 3 - TIO Handicap (1600m)

KING KEV (R Oakford) – Raced without cover in running.

CHETTALLI (F Bergstrand) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider expressed the opinion that her mount had choked down in running. Trainer D Leech agreed and advised that he will add a tongue control bit to the gelding’s gear. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

BRIDGEY FLYER (R Prest) – Raced wide throughout. Cast the near hind plate in running.

EFRON (B Davis) – Crowded at the start.

Race 4 - Pace Insurance Handicap (1300m)

CELEBRAKTI (B Davis) – Raced wide from the 600m.

OUR VALDIVIA (P Denton) – Raced wide throughout.

GIRAMONDO (C Spry) – Compounded from the 800m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer C Spry was advised that he must present the results of an ECG and the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Trainer subsequently advised that the gelding will now be retired.

CHASE THE ROSE (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

Race 5 - RSL TROBIS 3YO Class 4 Handicap (1300m)

Prior to the race Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey bearing in mind his stable had 3 runners in the event.  All runners were ridden accordingly.

ABU DHABI (K Gladwin) – Listed to carry a tongue tie but raced without this gear.

BATTLE OF HASTINGS (J Todd) – Cast the near fore plate in running.

WORTHINGTON (F Bergstrand) – Mistrode near the 200m.

JOLLY BOY (M Tyndall) – Compounded over the final 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained superficial lacerations to the outside of the off fore leg.

General: Trainer L Kennewell, through his representative, was fined $500 for negligence in failing to fit a tongue tie to ABU DHABI. In consideration of penalty Stewards took into account that Mr Kennewell’s representative gave an undertaking prior to the race that the gelding has not raced with this gear but advised following the event that the stable had made an error.

Race 6 - Bernborough Club Cup (1000m)

NEAT FEAT (R Oakford) – Impeded near the 700m. Tightened for room and was steadied passing the 600m.

ROYAL REQUEST (S Cahill) – Bounded at the start and then slow to muster early speed.

ALPHA MAN (J Todd) – Lay outwards through the middle stages and as a result tightened another runner near the 600m.

SHIP’S CAPTAIN (C Spry) – Carried inwards shortly after the start.

PERFECT PAUSE (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly.


Swab samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from CHALUMEAU, SWIMMER, NEWSWORTHY, KING KEV, GIRAMONDO, SALAMAAT, HEART OF RED & ROYAL REQUEST.


DTC track work – Jockey D Pisani fined $50 for breaching a track regulation

Races 3 & 5 – Apprentice R Prest fined $200 for failing to claim down to her minimum riding weight – AR92

Race 5 - Trainer L Kennewell fined $500 for negligence – AR175(k)






Race 4 – GIRAMONDO must barrier trial and have ECG results submitted (cardiac arrhythmia)
