RACE 1: 0-70 HANDICAP 1300M

PHOENIX ARIZONA (S Ridler) – Bumped outwards at the 1100m and raced wide from thereon.

STAY TIL DAWN (S Altieri) – Cast its near fore plate in running.

THE CONCORDE (K Brooks) – Shied away from another runner and veered outwards at the 1100m.

TIPSY ON RED (W Davis) – Carried outwards and crowded at the 1100m.

ITCHYZARIZ (R Vigar) – Impeded near the 1100m. Returned to the enclosure with a shifted near hind plate.

SHINSKY (B Huppatz) – Slow to muster early speed.

RACE 2 – -0-58 HANDICAP 1300M

THE PRESTIGE (V Arnott) – Bumped at the start.

ROYALS (S Ridler) – Crowded and bumped at the start. Cast both hind plates in running.

SUPER SWIFT (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.

CHICA CALIENTE (K Brooks) – Steadied at the 500m.

General – On inquiry jockey F Bergstrand (BON JET) was reprimanded for careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 500m she shifted her outwards to improve when insufficiently clear resulting in CHICA CALIENTE (K Brooks) being momentarily steadied.


PAGO ROCK (C Spry) – Raced wide throughout.

AFRICAN PULSE (K Brooks) – Commenced awkwardly.

ALCOBRO (B Davis) – Had a tendency to shift ground outwards when tested with the whip in the straight.


Trainer C Spry reported to the Stewards that his runner MAVERICKS had sustained an injury in a stable mishap. The Club veterinarian inspected the gelding and reported it to be lame in the near hind fetlock. MAVERICKS was subsequently withdrawn by the Stewards at 1.57pm and no betting deductions were applicable.

MULTIZONE (P Denton) – Following the unplaced performance a post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

I'M A SOLDIER (M Tyndall) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G Lefoe was advised that he must present a vet clearance prior to the gelding trialling or racing again. Trainer reported that the gelding would now be retired.

POET'S CHOICE (F Bergstrand) – Bumped at the start.

WISEN UP (R Vigar) – Bumped and crowded at the start. Raced wide throughout.

MERVEILLE (R Oakford ) – Bumped at the start. Cast its off fore plate in running.

CLAIR (B Huppatz) –Bounded at the start.


BROOKLYN (C Spry) – Stumbled on jumping. Pressured inwards by another runner near the 950m.

EDGE OF CHAOS (K Brooks) – Bumped and unbalanced at the start.

MI BEL FIO (S Altieri) – Commenced to lay inwards shortly after the start causing interference to other runners and continued to hang in despite the efforts of its rider until near the 600m. Rider expressed that in her opinion, the mare carrying blinkers for the first time may have contributed to its racing manner. Trainer C Pollard was advised that the mare must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

LOTTA DAME (R Vigar) – Bumped at the start. Tightened for room and checked by its rider near the 950m.

SUNSET STRIP (B Davis) – Knuckled at the start and the bumped another runner.

LUNAR JOY (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

RACE 6 – 0-76 HANDICAP 1600M

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke  in regards to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey as his stable had three runners in the event.

LAGO GIRL was kicked by another runner behind the barriers and sustained a laceration to the chest. The mare was declared a late scratching at 5.44pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice. All bets placed on LAGO GIRL were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 5.44pm.

KING KEV  5c place 


KING KEV (K Brooks) – Returned with blood in the right nostril. Following a veterinary examination the source of the blood was determined to be caused from a laceration inside the nostril.

HARREBS TIME (R Vigar) – Dipped at the 1400m. Held up approaching the 450m and then taken outwards to secure clear running.

CELEBRAKTI (C Spry) – At the rider’s request, the gelding underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to compete. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near fore leg. Trainer G Clarke was advised that he must present a vet clearance prior to the gelding trialling or racing again.

FRENCH TUSSON (S Altieri) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

RONN'S MOSS (B Davis) – Rider reported that his mount bounded at the start and as a result his saddle shifted placing him at a disadvantage. As a result he was unable to ride competitively and attempted to keep the gelding to the outside of the field so as to not endanger his safety or that of other horses and riders. As he had limited control over his mount, rider dismounted following the race and the gelding was led back to the enclosure riderless. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have an elevated heart rate and to have sustained a laceration to the off fore leg.

BOMBER BROWN (B Huppatz) – Returned with self inflicted lacerations to the off hind leg.


Post race samples were taken from all winners and KING KEV. Pre race samples were taken from all runners engaged in race 6.


Apprentice Kate Brooks was fined $300 for being unable to claim down to her MRW of 55kg in races 2, 3 & 5. At the request of connections Stewards permitted her to retain all rides and she rode at 55.5kg – AR92

Race 6 – Jockey C Spry fined $100 for being overweight on CELEBRAKTI -  AR120(b)


Race 2 – Jockey F Bergstrand was reprimanded for careless riding - AR137(a)
