General – Stewards inquired into a report from the Clerk of Scales that jockey R Vigar had changed his gear after weighing out. It was established that R Vigar had weighed out with a light set of boots to make the allotted weight on MOONLIGHT HUSSLER and had then deliberately changed them and rode in an alternative set of boots. Jockey R Vigar subsequently pleaded guilty to a breach of AR118A and had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting (27 May, 2017). In arriving at this penalty Stewards took into account the seriousness of the offence and the fact that R Vigar had been fined for the same rule breach at the Tennant Creek race meeting the previous week.

Race 4 - TROBIS 0 - 58 Handicap 1200M

FIRST DRAFT (R Vigar) – Slow into stride.

HARLEQUIN BELLS (W Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Steadied from heels after laying out rounding the first turn.

HOWDEE (B Huppatz) – Bumped at the start.

General – On inquiry jockey B Davis was found guilty of a breach of AR118A for changing his boots after weighing out and fined the sum of $300. When considering this penalty Stewards took into account that the change of equipment had been picked up prior to the race and that it therefore did not have a material effect on the weight carried.

Race 5 - 0 - 64 Handicap 1100M

Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in regards to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey as his stable had three runners in the event.

KING KAZOU (R Oakford) – Struck its off hip on the gate leaving the saddling enclosure and after undergoing a veterinary examination at the barriers was cleared to compete. Commenced awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

OH SO JAZZY (P Shiers) – Bounded at the start.
