General: Prior to the race Stewards interviewed trainer Mr G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey bearing in mind his stable had 3 runners in the event. All runners were ridden accordingly.
ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (P Shiers) – Raced wide from the 600m.
FRISKY ALBERT (R Oakford) – Pressured by another runner and steadied inwards leaving the 1000m.
DISCO VOLANTI (V Arnott) – Raced wide for the majority of the event. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained injuries to the soles of the near fore and off hind hooves. In an attempt to ascertain the cause of these injuries the Stewards interviewed jockey V Arnott who advised that her mount had travelled comfortably in running and had exhibited no lameness in running or upon return to the enclosure following the race. After viewing the patrol films it was established that there was no evidence that the gelding had been galloped on by any other runner and it did not appear to falter or mistride in its action at any stage in running and therefore the cause of the injuries were inconclusive.
MINE CRAFT (M Tyndall) – Tightened for room and unbalanced leaving the 1000m.
General: On inquiry jockey B Davis (NEAT FEET) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR 137(a) with the specifics being that he permitted his mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear leaving the 1000m resulting in FRISKY ALBERT (R Oakford) being steadied inwards and bumping with MINE CRAFT (M Tyndall) which became unbalanced when steadied. Jockey B Davis had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 28 May, 2016.
Race 4: B/MARK 54 Handicap 1100m
INFERENTIAL (R Oakford) – Raced wide from the 600m.
