General:

Stewards today conducted compliance checks and stable inspections which included examinations of all runners engaged to compete at today’s meeting.

As a result of inquiries into reports from these activities the following action was taken:

Trainer B Richard pleaded guilty of a breach of AR140(a)(ii)(b) in that he failed to report that BELLA GIULIETTA sustained an injury in a stable mishap on Friday 24th June 2016, which resulted in the mare having a swollen near hind fetlock and was fined the sum of $300.

Trainer C Pollard was fined $250 for a breach of AR178(F)(5) in that he had failed to maintain a record for treatment and medication administration for horses in his stable.

Trainers D Waters, T Halter and K Lamprecht were each reprimanded for breaching AR178(F)(5) in that the records presented for the treatment and medication administered to their relevant runners did not meet the specific requirements of the rule.

Race 1: ROANT Membership Due Maiden Plate 1300m

BEYOND CALCULATION (B Huppatz) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

CHOICE APPROACH (R Oakford) – Commenced awkwardly.

KALIMNA (S Brown) – Slow to muster early speed.

LEICA ROCKET (C Spry) – Raced wide throughout.

OUTDONE (P Shiers) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance, rider advised that although he was obliged to race wide without cover in running, his mount was under pressure at the 500m and failed to finish the race off as anticipated.  A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

BELLA GIULIETTA (F Bergstrand) – Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course and was cleared to compete.  Dwelt at the start losing considerable ground.

Race 2 – U-Cart Handicap 1200m

SHOOT 'N' SCOOT (F Bergstrand) – Veered outwards at the start.

BRANDY NAN (K Gladwin) – Raced wide for majority of the event.

Race 4 – Nev Connor Memorial 1100m

POT BLACK (S Cahill) – Commenced awkwardly.  Slow to muster early speed.  Rider reported that when his mount commenced awkwardly he struck his left leg on the barrier partition and explained that this was the reason for his mount racing further back in the field in the early stages than anticipated.

DE STARSANDCIRCLES (S Brown) – Raced wide throughout.

BELLE EZ (J Lyon) – Fractious in the barriers and when the start was effected, the mare dropped its head and consequently dislodged its rider.

DUBLIN LAD (F Bergstrand) – Crowded and steadied passing the 900m.  Tightened for room and restrained near the 800m.

General: On inquiry it was established that approaching the 900m, Dublin Lad (F Bergstrand) was crowded for room and steadied by CRUZIERO (D Pisani) which shifted ground marginally when laying inwards and was then corrected by its rider.

At a further inquiry, jockey D Pisani (CRUZIERO) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that near the 800m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting inwards resulting in DUBLIN LAD being tightened for room and restrained.  D Pisani had his licence to ride in races suspended for one NT meeting to commence midnight tomorrow night (26th June) to expire after 2nd July 2016.
