Following the race jockey F Bergstrand, rider of the second placed BON JET lodged a protest against the winner ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (R Oakford) alleging interference near the 650m. In dismissing the objection Stewards were of the opinion that whilst both runners had made contact near the 650m resulting in BON JET becoming unbalanced and losing ground, the panel could not be satisfied to the requisite standard that the contact was solely caused by ENGINE FIFTY FIVE shifting inwards as BON JET had been laying outwards in the run to the first turn and therefore may have contributed to the incident.
BON JET (F Bergstrand) – Lay outwards in the back straight. Bumped with another and became unbalanced losing ground near the 650m.
ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (R Oakford) – Bumped with another runner near the 650m.

TERIO TOOL (B Davis) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Lay outwards in running and hung considerably rounding the home turn placing the rider at a disadvantage in testing his mount in the straight. Trainer G Clarke was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.
