Race 1 Yellowglen Handicap 1400 metres

BEEDEEKAY (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

HILLBILLY RICH (B Huppatz) – Raced wide in running and hung outwards from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer Mr K Lamprecht was advised that he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the gelding prior to racing or trialling again.

DOUBLE FIVE (K Gladwin) – Proved difficult to load.

GRAB FOR POWER (J Cameron) – Hung outwards from the 800m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be showing signs of a respiratory condition.

M Nyhan was advised that he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the gelding prior to racing or trialling again.

EMMOOKI’S STAR (D Pisani) – Commenced a little awkward and bumped with another runner.

Race 2: Territory Pest Control Handicap 1400 metres

DOON BUGGY (B Davis) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Lay inwards under pressure passing the 100m.

SPINNING CROWN (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped with another runner.

GIRL HAPPY (B Huppatz) – Raced greenly in running. Over reacted when steadied approaching the 1200m turn and lost ground. Unable to secure a clear run over the final 250m.

COMMANDING LAD (K Connor) – Bumped at the start with another runner

MEROONI (T Gillett) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Steadied in-between runners approaching the first turn.

Race 3: Coca-Cola Handicap 1200 metres

ADJUSTER (K Gladwin) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that his mount was not suited to the fast tempo of the race and was off the bit leaving the 600m. In his opinion the gelding will be more suited racing over an increased distance.

LE COMMANDANT (S Westover) – Bumped shortly after the start. Tightened for room and restrained near the 700m and then raced wide from thereon. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

LADY PHROMILY (D Pisani) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

EXTRACEED (K Connor) – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

General: On inquiry jockey F Bergstrand (ENGINE FIFTY FIVE)  guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that for some distance approaching the 700m she did place undue pressure on LE COMMANDANT (S Westover) resulting in that gelding being tightened for room and restrained by its rider. Ms Bergstand had her licence to ride in races suspended for 1 NT meeting to expire after 4 March, 2016.

Race 4: Imparja Handicap 1100 metres

Prior to the race Stewards interviewed trainer Mrs L Gillett in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each jockey bearing in mind she had 3 runners engaged in this event. All runners were ridden accordingly.

BLAZING COMET (T Gillett) – Slow into stride.

AQABA (F Bergstrand) – Carried wide rounding the home turn. Following the unplaced performance a post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

BEST A MAN CAN GET (S Westover) – Bumped at the start. Held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

ESTAMBUL THIRTEEN (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

LIVE IN SANE (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout.

General: Trainer L Gillett was reprimanded for presenting her runner BEST A MAN CAN GET with the incorrect gear. Stewards took into consideration that she was responsible for multiple runners in this event.

Race 5: Lennie Cole Handicap 1100 metres

Prior to the race Stewards interviewed trainer Mrs L Gillett in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each jockey bearing in mind she had 4 runners engaged in this event. All runners were ridden accordingly.

PRANFARE (R Vigar) – Slow into stride and raced wide throughout.

PASSING PARADE (J Cameron) – Bounded at the start.

CAPITOLINE (K Connor) – Slow into stride.

General: Stewards accepted trainer Mrs L Gillett’s explanation for the late notification of riders for her runners in this event.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners

Stewards selected a number of riders to provide samples of their urine for the purpose of drug testing.
