Race 1 Toby Price Maiden Plate 1200 metres

ANARCHY IN UTAH (M Tyndall) – Bounded out of the barriers.

OWESMEBIGTIME (J Cameron) – Raced wide throughout.

VALYRIAN (R Vigar) – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

CHARLIE BUBBLES (L Crow) – Commenced slow into stride.

CANDLESTICKS (K Gladwin) – Steadied between runners at the 670m.

SWIMMER (R Prest) – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the final 100m.

BIANCONI’S SON (W Kerford) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 2: Shannon & Ian Rentsch Handicap 1200 metres

Prior to this race Stewards interviewed trainer Mrs L Gillett in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each jockey bearing in mind she had 4 runners engaged in this event.

MITIGATE (S Westover) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary inspection revealed no apparent abnormalities. Rider reported that the gelding struggled under the big weight and being caught wide throughout and also failed to run out the 1200m.

GRANCABRIO (S McGovern) – Commenced slow into stride bumping with runner and again bumped with a runner at the 200m.

REMEMBER RAZOR (W Kerford) – Slow into stride and despite the efforts of its rider, failed to maintain a forward position.

AUSBRED ROYAL (R Prest) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout.

SHADOW DUNES (B Huppatz) – Bumped with runner on jumping, inconvenienced for a clear run at the 250m.

FLYING FAY (K Connor) – Raced wide throughout.

RANDI (K Gladwin) – Raced wide throughout.

GOLD ZAC (M Tyndall) – Fractious in the barriers.

Race 3: Antony Yoffa Handicap 1000 metres

REMBRANDT (B Huppatz) – Steadied of heels at the 670m and lost a little ground.

KING’S PARDON (K Gladwin) – Knuckled on jumping and lost ground.

HAND IN GLOVE (W Kerford) – A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the gelding to have pulled up lame in the near side front leg. Trainer advised that the gelding will now be spelled and will keep Stewards updated if the gelding will return to racing. Trainer advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a trial or race, she must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards.

OVERRIDE (L Crow) – Steadied along the rails at the 670m.

SHORT SHIFT (R Prest) – Commenced to roll in about the 670m.

General: Apprentice R Prest was reprimanded for careless riding for allowing her mount to shift in at the 670m resulting in REMBRANDT and OVERRIDE being momentarily inconvenienced for room.

Race 4: David Walsh Handicap 1000 metres

SUPER KANGAROO (J Cameron) – Commenced to shift in about the 900m.

MOUNTAIN PROMISE (S McGovern) – Fractious in barriers and a little slow into stride.

COLDROCK (S Westover) – Stewards permitted rider to ride 1 kg overweight as there were no other riders available to make the allotted weight.

KENTUCKY FIREBALL (R Vigar) – Raced wide into the home straight.

MR GOOD LOOKING (W Kerford) – Slow into stride and bumped with another runner.

BLAME IT ON RIO (R Prest) – Bumped and tightened between runners on jumping.

WEEKENDINALICE (L Crow) – Commenced awkward bumping with another runner. Restrained off heels at the 900m losing ground.

General: On inquiry J Cameron (SUPER KANGAROO) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(a) for careless riding. The specifics being that approaching the 900m, she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of WEEKENDINALICE (L Crow) resulting in that rider having to restrain her mount off heels and losing ground. J Cameron had her license to ride in races suspended for a period to expire midnight the 19th June 2016. (1 Alice Springs meeting). Stewards when considering penalty were mindful that J Cameron had not ridden at any recent Darwin meetings.

Race 5: Finke Heroes Steve & Ingrid Walton Handicap 1400 metres

LUNA METEOR (R Prest) – Commenced a little slow into stride. Rider reported that after being slow into stride, the gelding resented the kickback and failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed no apparent abnormalities.

ZANDERCAN (L Crow) – Knuckled on jumping.

STRATIGRAPHY (K Gladwin) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners.
