Today’s meeting was the continuation of the final 4 races on the 6 event race card that was postponed due to the state of the track at Fannie Bay on Tuesday 1st November, 2016.
Race 1: Class B Handicap 1200m
SCARLET ICE (B Huppatz) – The mare became fractious in the mounting enclosure and reared backwards into a gate and dislodged its rider. The mare sustained a laceration to the hip and trotted riderless through the grassed public area next to the enclosure for a short period before being recaptured without further incident. As jockey B Huppatz required the attention of the Paramedics, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the mare at 2.35pm.
All bets placed on SCARLET ICE were ordered to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to successful bets placed prior to 2.35 pm.

BROOKLYN (C Spry) – Raced wide throughout.
CASINO JAKE (V Arnott) – Raced wide throughout.
SURROUNDED (S Altieri) – Trainer T Halter reported during the week that the mare had received treatment for an abscess on the near hind coronet. The mare underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to compete.
MIGHTY TAX (K Brooks) – Rider reported that the gelding reared at the start and struck her in the face. She explained that due to this her mount had raced further back than anticipated and consequently resented the kickback in the early and middle stages.
General: Jockeys’ B Huppatz and K Brooks were both examined by the Paramedics and cleared to continue riding.
Race 2 - 0 - 64 Handicap 1100m
COPERNICUS (C Spry) – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. When questioned rider advised that in his opinion the gelding’s behaviour in the barriers may have contributed to the unplaced performance as his mount was reluctant to stretch out and muster any early speed despite his efforts. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ZOOM LAD (R Oakford) – Rider reported his mount had a tendency to lay inwards through running.
CESTOS (B Huppatz) – Raced wide throughout. Shifted ground outwards when tested with the whip the straight.
JOLLY BOY (M Tyndall) - Fractious in the barriers. Dwelt at the start. Raced in restricted room passing the 800m.
TIGRA (K Brooks) – Unsettled in the barriers prior to the start. Commenced awkwardly. The mare received veterinary treatment following the event for a laceration to the head, which was sustained in the barriers prior to the start.
DUBLIN LAD (S Ridler) – Steadied off heels near the 800m. Failed to negotiate the first turn when racing in between other runners and had to be restrained losing ground.
Race 3 – Weight for Age 1100m
Prior to the race Stewards interviewed trainer G Clarke in relation to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey bearing in mind his stable had 3 runners in the event.
NEAT FEAT (R Oakford) – Bumped at the start.
SPIRIT OF THE DAWN (C Spry) - Bumped at the start.
STATUE OF WARRIORS (F Bergstrand) - Bumped at the start.
WHITE SAMBUCA(NZ) (S Altieri) – Bounded at the start.
Race 4 – 0 – 70 Handicap 1300m
Prior to the race Stewards interviewed trainer K Petrick in relation to the riding instructions she intended to give each jockey bearing in mind her stable had 3 runners in the event.
TIPSY ON RED (S Altieri) – Raced wide throughout.
GIRLS AWAY (B Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and veered inwards at the start.
BREATHE FREE (K Brooks) – Bounded at the start.
Post race samples were taken from all winners. Pre race samples were taken from BROOKLYN, SCARLET ICE, MI BEL FIO, CESTOS, TICKET TO TOORAK, TIPSY ON RED, ENGINE FIFTY FIVE, ZOCALOS and BREATHE FREE.
