Race 1: 0-76 1300m

Race 2: Open 1100m

PYXIS (K Gladwin) – Dwelt at the start. When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that whilst his mount had a tendency to lay outwards through the middle stages the mare was under pressure prior to straightening and failed to run on in the straight as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M Nyhan expressed disappointment in the performance and undertook to have blood tests taken from the mare analysed and would advise accordingly of the results.

JAVA (R Oakford) – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 4: 3YO 0-64 1600m

A protest lodged by jockey S Fawke rider of the second placed MARINA against the winner MULLIGAN FALLS (W Davis) alleging interference approaching the 100m was dismissed. In dismissing the objection Stewards were of the opinion that whilst MULLIGAN FALLS had shifted into the running line of MARINA and as a result that gelding was impeded near the 100m, they were not satisfied that the ground lost in the incident was greater than the margin between both runners at the finish.

ROAR (J Maskiell) – Bumped heavily at the start. The veterinarian reported post race that the colt was suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer R Hickmotts’ representative was advised that the colt must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and be cleared in a post trial veterinary examination prior to racing again.

MARINA (S Fawke) – Impeded from heels and angled outwards near the 100m.

HILDISVINI (J Lyon) – Slow into stride. Despite the efforts of its rider failed to muster any speed in the early and middle stages and raced off the bit until inside the 600m. The gelding then picked up the bit approaching the home turn and responded to the riders’ urgings and finished the race off strongly in the straight.

PLENARY (V Arnott) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

WINGED HUSSAR (B Sweeney) – Bumped heavily at the start.
