General from DTC meeting 7 December, 2017

After initially reporting that ELECTRIC CRIMSON would spell after winning, trainer D Leech subsequently advised that he will nominate the gelding to race again at Alice Springs on 17 December, 2017.

Race 1: BM54 1300M

FRENCH TUSSON (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout. Following the unplaced performance trainer T Halter advised that the gelding will now be sent for a spell.

RYE (W Davis) – Bounded at the start. Bumped on the hind quarters by another runner near the 650m.

BARTENDER MAN (F Bergstrand) – Lay outwards through the middle stages.

PRICKLES (S Ridler) – Contacted another runner near the 650m and lost ground.

FRAYVILLE ( K Cross) – At the request of the rider, the gelding underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to compete. Following the event the rider reported her mount felt awkward in its action. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore and off hind. Trainer S Dodd was advised that he must present a veterinary clearance and the gelding must barrier trial satisfactorily prior to racing again. Trainer subsequently advised that the gelding would be retired.

General – On inquiry it was established that near the 650m PRICKLES (S Ridler) shifted out slightly and made contact with the hind quarters of RYE (W Davis) and as a result PRICKLES had to be steadied and lost ground.

Race 2: 0-70 1100M

WOOGIE (R Vigar) – Fractious prior to the start.

Race 3: BM54 1100M

KILIM (P Denton) – Bumped at the start.

General – On inquiry jockey K Cross (PUZZLED PRINCESS) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) with the specifics being that near the 900m she permitted her mount to shift inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in OCTOMINT (P Crich) losing ground when restrained to avoid heels. K Cross had her license to ride in races suspended for a period of 2 NT meetings to expire after 17 December, 2017.

Race 4: TROBIS MAIDEN 1000M

RABHAAN ($3.90) – was declared a late withdrawal at 5.14pm after the Club veterinarian advised the colt was lame in the off hind leg. Trainer P Johnston was advised he must present a veterinary certificate of soundness for the colt prior to racing again.
