Race 1 Lawrence and Hanson Handicap 1200 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

THE HUMMEL (F Bergstrand) – Knuckled on jumping.

PERFECT PARAGON (D Pisani) – Commenced slow into stride.

PERFECT PAUSE (K Gladwin) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

BEL’S LAD (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride. Inconvenienced for a clear run between the 700m and 400m.

General: When questioned regarding the unplaced performance of BEL’S LAD, rider advised that after being inconvenienced for room at the start, he had ridden his mount vigorously to make up ground and consequently was then held up and unable to improve when behind heels between the 700m -500m. He further added that the gelding had failed to finish the race off as anticipated. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

Race 2: Envirobank Handicap 1200 metres

FULL MARKS (F Bergstrand) – Reared as the gates opened and lost a little ground.

SIMON THE LIKEABLE (D Pisani) – Raced wide throughout and inclined to lay in under pressure down the length of the straight.

STILL A LADY (K Brooks) – Rider reminded of her obligations to ride her mounts out to the line.

Race 3: North Concrete Handicap 1100 metres

DESERT LASHES (K Gladwin) – Dwelt at start. Rider reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the line. Rider then reported that the filly did not feel right over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

SCANDLOUS (B Davis) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 4: A1 Plumbing Handicap 1100 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Gillett in regards to her riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she has 3 runners.

I AM GROUSE (B Davis) – After a poor performance a post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off side knee. Stewards advised trainer S Green that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, he must produce a veterinary certificate of fitness satisfactory to the Stewards. S Green advised that the gelding would now be retired from racing.

THEATREMAN (T Gillett) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner and momentarily unbalancing its rider. Became unbalanced rounding the home turn.

BEST A MAN CAN GET (C Spry) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

KENTUCKY FIREBALL (D Pisani) – Raced wide throughout.

LITTLE TED (K Brooks) – Inclined to lay in on straightening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame on the off side front leg. Trainer C Cook was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, she must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards.

REDOUTE’S EMPIRE (B Huppatz) – Slow into stride.

PAZZIMY (K Gladwin) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 5: Al’s Plumbing Handicap 1400 metres

PERFECT PAUSE (K Gladwin) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

QUANTUM DOT (B Davis) – Commenced awkwardly.

COLDROCK (C Spry) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

FLYING TORMENTA (K Brooks) – Steadied off heels rounding the first turn when laying out.

RANDI (F Bergstrand) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.
