Race 1 Terry Lillis Handicap 1200 metres

LET’S DREAM BIG was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:13 after sustaining some lacerations to its off side hind leg after becoming fractious in the barriers.

As there was no book-maker on course, deductions were not applicable.

Trainer Mr W Savage was advised that prior to that filly again starting in a race, he must produce a veterinary certificate of soundness satisfactory to the Stewards.

BONSAI BOY (J Todd) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Steadied off heels at the 600m.

HIGH TEC (K Cross) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

GUN RULE (R Booth) – Dipped slightly on jumping.

Race 2: John McBride Handicap 1100 metres

ALPHA SON (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

LITTLE JAY JAY (K Cross) – Commenced a little awkwardly bumping with another runner.

SIR DEREK (J Todd) – Commenced awkwardly and inclined to race a little keen in the early stages of the event.

BONSTAR EXPRESS (R Booth) – On returning to scale, was found to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer Mr S Green was advised of his obligations under AR53A(4)(b).

ANOTHER MAN’S LOSS (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly.

Race 3: Bernadette Joyner & Brian Cairns Handicap 1000 metres

ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (M Hart) – Raced wide throughout with no cover.

ROUGHLY (P Denton) – Taken out slightly by another runner at the 650m.

TEQUILA RED (W Kerford) – A little slow into stride.

HEART OF RED (R Vigar) – Raced wide into the straight and down the length of the straight.

MITOCHONDRIA (B Huppatz) – Fractious in the barriers. Inclined to race a little erratic in the early stages shifting out on several occasions.

Race 4: Kevin Hickmott & David Lillecrapp Handicap 1400 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to her riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.

SNOWTROOPER (Z Gibbs) – Rider dropped his off side rein approaching the finish and as a result his mount began to roll inwards.

MITIGATE (R Vigar) – Ridden hard in the early stages to secure a forward position.

JUST TOO HARD (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner. Steadied off heels into the first turn.

ECOLANE (J Todd) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and momentarily restricted for room.

PARKINSON (P Denton) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Race 5: Pioneer Park Anniversary Handicap 1400 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to her riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had multiple runners in this event.

MOOT (Z Gibbs) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Inclined to shift out abruptly for a number of strides shortly after jumping.

BEL’S LAD (L Crow) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

General: Stewards questioned trainer W Savage as to the riding instructions he gave his rider L Crow after Stewards raised a concern as to why she started her run from the 950m and subsequently being beaten by a short margin. Mr Savage explained that his instructions were to lead as per its normal racing pattern and that he was happy with the way she rode the gelding in today’s event. Stewards accepted Mr Savage’s explanation.

GENERAL

Stewards adjourned an inquiry as to apprentice Z Gibbs leaving the race course before seeking the permission of the Stewards, and not having his winning rides book endorsed.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners.

Pre-race sample taken from HIGH TEC, SIR DEREK, HEART OF RED, G’DAY BLUE, GOING NOWHERE, PERESSINI, ADJUSTER.
