Race 1 First National Framptons Handicap 1600 metres

BIANCONI’S SON (M Tyndall) – Slow into stride on jumping. Checked off heels about the 1400m when tightened for room along the rails.

TUTU CANNY (B Huppatz) – Shifted ground inwards about the 1400m.

GIRL HAPPY (F Bergstrand) – Attempted to buck shortly after jumping. Shifted in abruptly at the 1400m when steadied off heels bumping with inside runner. Trainer Mr K Lamprecht was advised that a warning had been placed on his runner and a similar occurrence may result in some action being taken.

PASSING PARADE (C Spry) – Bumped with another runner at the 1400m and taken inwards. Stewards off heels into the first turn. Inconvenienced for a clear run from about the 550m to the 400m.

General: On inquiry to an incident involving several runners being tightened for room at the 1400m. It was established that TUTU CANNY had shifted inwards but failed to straighten when the rider attempted to and GIRL HAPPY had over reacted when steadied of that mares heels shifting in quickly for a number of strides placing pressure on runners to its inside. Stewards were satisfied that riders involved had made genuine efforts to keep their mounts straight and took no further action.

Race 2: Masters Games Handicap 1200 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

SHOOT ‘N’ SCOOT (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly and dipped slightly.

CESTOS (K Gladwin) – Raced wide into the home turn and down the straight.

NEVER POINTLESS (R Vigar) – Commenced slow into stride and steadied of heels at the 400m.

Race 3: Melbourne Cup Luncheon Handicap 1100 metres

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

PURPLE PASSAGE (R Prest) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

PERFECT PAUSE (D Pisani) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

PERFECT PARAGON (R Vigar) – Commenced slow into stride bumping with another runner and failed to muster early speed before racing wide throughout.

Race 4: Colemans Printing Handicap (Div 1) 1100 metres

MYKANOS (W Kerford) – Rolled out under pressure over the concluding stages.

I AM GROUSE (R Vigar) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide into the home straight.

STILL A LADY (D Pisani) – Raced wide into the home straight.

Race 5: Colemans Printing Handicap (Div 2) 1100 metres

VAN PERSIE (R Vigar) – Commenced to run off the track at the 450m causing its rider difficulties in keeping it straight. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer L Lefoe was advised that prior to that gelding again starting in a race, it must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a more tractable manner.

RAZOR TIME (R Prest) – Bumped with another runner on jumping, rolled in under pressure for a number of strides at the 250m.

BONSAI BOY (F Bergstrand) – Commenced awkwardly.

LA CHIC (B Davis) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

PAZZIMY (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly and raced wide throughout with no cover.

General: Stewards opened an inquiry in relation to an incident near the 200m where on their live observations it appeared that VAN PERSIE (R Vigar) had been struck across the head by the whip of its rider. Stewards subsequently ordered a veterinary examination of the geldings head area which revealed no apparent injuries. After taking evidence and viewing the patrol footage

Jockey R Vigar was subsequently found guilty of a charge under AR175(q) for  improper conduct with the specifics being that at the 200m he deliberately struck his mount over the head on two occasions with his whip. R Vigar had his licence to ride in races suspended to commence 26th day of September up until and including the 7th November (7 NT meetings). In addition a fine of $1000 was also imposed. In consideration of penalty Stewards took into account the serious nature of the offence and that it related directly to animal welfare and that his actions reflect poorly on the image of racing. R Vigar was notified of his right of appeal.

Race 6: McDonalds Alice Springs Handicap 1400 metres.

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 3 runners.

PERESSINI (K Gladwin) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

CASINO EXIT (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Tightened momentarily between runners at the 1250m.

MR GOOD LOOKING (W  Kerford) – Bumped with another runner at the 250m.

MEET MY BRO (B Davis) – Momentarily tightened between runners at the 1250m.

RANDI (F Bergstrand) – Fractious in the barriers. Bumped with another runner at the 250m whilst rolling in under pressure.

XANDERS PORSHA (D Pisani) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

SHIVORO (c Spry) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners.
