Race 1 Melbourne Cup Tour 16TH August Handicap 1200 metres

BONSAI BOY (F Bergstrand) – Incline to lay inwards under pressure rounding the home turn.

ANOTHER MAN’S LOSS (W Kerford) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

OAKFIELD REBEL (S Noble) – Slow into stride. Rider explained that her mount lost ground at the 1000m after over-reacting when steadied off heels.

RIBERA DEL DUERO (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly.

HIGH TEC (K Bishop) – Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the barriers and was subsequently cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.

SHINING MANE (R Vigar) – Taken out slightly by another runner at the 600m. 

Race 2: Colemans Printing Maiden Plate 1100 metres

MA CHITA (L Crow) – Commenced awkwardly and after being ridden hard early was forced to restrain about the 900m after racing up onto heels.

SHANARICH (W Kerford) – Commenced awkwardly attempting to run outwards.

Race 3: Ladbrokes Handicap 1000 metres

TEQUILA RED (W Kerford) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Shifted inwards close to the finish to obtain clear running. Rider advised to be mindful of riders to his inside when permitting his mounts to shift ground.

MANHATTON PRINCE (S Noble) – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Steadied when taken in by another runner close to the finish.

URBAN BOURBON (L Miller) – Commenced slow into stride and raced wide throughout.

LITTLE JAY JAY (K Bishop) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

JUST TOO HARD (B Davis) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped with another runner.

NEWSWORTHY (B Huppatz) – Commenced slow into stride.

Race 4: McDonalds Alice Springs Handicap 1600 metres

SWIVET was a late scratching at 3:50 pm after its rider became indisposed and no other rider was available on course.

As there was no bookmaker on course, deductions were not applicable.

GRAB FOR POWER (W Kerford) – After a disappointing performance, a veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Rider was of the opinion that his mount was suited for this race and had no explanation as to the poor performance of the gelding.

DU BOIS (B Hupptz) – Raced keen into the first turn.

DOON BUGGY (L Crow) – Commenced a little awkwardly.

Race 5: Hall of Fame Dinner 16TH August Handicap 1400 metres

Stewards interviewed trainer L Whittle in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had multiple runners in the event.

ENGINE FIFTY FIVE (R Vigar) – Bumped with another runner on jumping.

RHYTHM OF CUBA (B Huppatz) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner.

LIBERTY HILL (K Bishop) – Knuckled slightly on jumping, bumping with another runner and raced ungenerously into the first turn getting its head up.

CASINO EXIT (L Miller) – Bumped with another runner on jumping and raced wide throughout.

General:

Apprentice S Noble was advised that prior to her again riding track-work and race riding, she must produce a medical certificate of fitness after suffering a medical condition upon returning to scale after race 3 and unable to fulfil her remaining engagement for the day.
