Race 5: Ladbrokes Handicap 1400 metres

As a result of the fall in the previous event, this race was put back to start at 5:40. Whilst apprentice C MacFarlane escaped serious injury from the fall, Stewards stood her down from riding in this event due to the fall being of a heavy nature and approved R Vigar as the replacement rider.

General: Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the winning post where RUBY FOR HENRY lost ground after its rider had to take hold when crowded for room. Stewards interviewed riders B Davis (OLIVARIS), W Kerford (ROYCEY), J Todd (URBAN BOURBON) and P Denton (RUBY FOR HENRY. Whilst acknowledging P Denton had to take hold and lost ground, Stewards were satisfied that no rider rode in a careless manner and took the incident no further.

General: Stewards adjourned an inquiry in relation to apprentice Zack Gibbs being unable to fulfil his riding engagement for today, using his mobile phone whilst in the jockeys’ room, and failing to attend the Stewards room. Apprentice Zack Gibbs was directed by the Stewards to attend the Stewards room during the course of the day but failed to do so.
