Race 1 Senturion Steel, Team Poly Handicap 1200 metres

Prior to the commencement of today’s meeting, apprentice K Brooks advised Stewards that she was contacted yesterday evening by trainer L Gillett to ride AUSBRED ROYAL in race 3 and BEST A MAN CAN GET in race 5. She further advised that due to the late notice she would be unable to ride at her allotted MRW today for those two events. Stewards accepted her explanation and permitted her to ride

Prior to this race, Stewards interviewed trainer L Lefoe in regards to the riding instructions she intended to give each rider bearing in mind she had 4 runners.

PERFECT PAUSE (K Gladwin) – Commenced awkwardly bumping with another runner on several occasions.

LADY PHROMILY (K Brooks) – Commenced slow into stride and bumped. Raced wide throughout.

NEVER POINTLESS (R Vigar) – Bounded out of the barriers and bumped. Rider advised that the gelding raced in a flat manner throughout the event. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

DANCING POETESS (F Bergstrand) – Jumped outwards as the start was effected and bumped. Inclined to lay outwards from the 600m.

HAMMERED ART (W Kerford) – Raced a little erratic down the length of the straight.

Race 2: Morrissey, Leicht CIA Maiden Plate 1100 metres

CAT’S ALLEY (F Bergstrand) – Bumped at the start and shortly after commenced to lay outwards for a number of strides bumping with runner on several occasions. Inclined to lay outwards down the length of the straight. Trainer advised that Stewards would monitor its next start in regards to it laying outwards and a similar occurrence may result in some action being taken.

SHE’S NICE (Z Gibbs) – Bumped on jumping and shortly after bumped and tightened momentarily between runners.

TACTICAL LASS (R Vigar) – Raced wide throughout. When questioned why he failed to ride his mount out to the line over the concluding stages, rider advised that his saddle had slipped shortly after the start and he was becoming unbalanced down the straight, and he was also confident he had secured second placing when he stopped riding. On reviewing the patrol footage, Stewards accepted R Vigars explanation.

MISSLED (D Pisani) – Commenced awkwardly and bumped.

Race 3: DM Plastics, Ridley, Ollsons Handicap 1100 metres

GRAB FOR POWER (M Tyndall) – Dipped slightly on jumping, tightened onto another runner about the 900m and had to take hold losing some ground. Inconvenienced for clear running over the final 100m

WILD RUN (D Pisani) – Commenced to roll in about the 900m.

PYXIS (Z Gibbs) – Bounded out on jumping and raced wide throughout.

TWISTED MILLER (J Mamat) – Commenced awkwardly, tightened for room along the rails at the 900m.

General: On inquiry, D Pisani pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a). The specifics of the charge being that approaching the 900m, he allowed his mount WILD RUN to shift in when not sufficiently clear of GRAB FOR POWER (M Tyndall) who had to stop riding and check her mount when tightened onto TWISTED MILLER (J Mamat) which was also tightened for room along the rails. D Pisani had his licence to ride in races suspended to commence midnight the 4th December and to expire midnight the 18th December. (1 Alice Springs meeting). D Pisani was further advised of his right of appeal.

Race 4: Whites NOV Mono Handicap 1000 metres

MYKONOS (W Kerford) – Knuckled slightly on jumping and bumped.

MANHATTAN PRINCE (K Brooks) – Steadied off heels shortly after jumping.

SHIVARCHI (J Mamat) – Commenced awkwardly and inclined to lay inwards under pressure down the length of the straight.

BURGUNDY LASS (B Huppatz) – Raced wide throughout.

MITOCHONDRIA (R Vigar) – Bumped at the start and was ridden hard in the early stages to obtain a forward position.

THEARTREMAN (T Gillett) – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Territory Rural McPherson, Datamars Handicap Cup 1400 metres

GRANDE CASTAGNO (D Pisani) – Began to yield ground from the 500m. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities Trainer advised that he will now be spelling the gelding.

GAMORA (Z Gibbs) – Rolled in about the 200m.

RANDI (F Bergstrand) – Reared as the gates opened and lost some ground. Inclined to lay inwards under pressure from the top of the straight.

ECOLANE (J Mamat) – Commenced awkwardly.

TUTU CANNY (B Huppatz) – Steadied off heels at the 200m.

Post-race samples were taken from all winners.

Pre-race sample taken from DANCING POETESS, PURPLE PHENOMENON, MANHATTAN PRINCE, GAMORA, HONG KONG EMPIRE.

A number of riders were selected to provide urine samples for the purpose of drug analysis.

Fines:  Trainer L Gillett $200 for late declaration of her rider. NT129.
