Race 2 – 3 YEAR OLD CLASS 2 HCP - 1000 metres:
As the gates opened, SING STAR was a little slow into stride.
Approaching the 900 metre, SING STAR which was racing forward along the inside had to momentarily take hold and change its running to the outside after LIMESTONE COAST which was also racing forward shifted across in front of that runner. As a result of SING STAR shifting out, MAUZIE was tightened momentarily on to NOTIPTHIS.
Subsequent to this event stewards questioned T Walsh rider of LIMESTONE COAST, V Arnott rider of SING STAR and C Haddon rider of MAUZIE into the incident.
After considering the evidence, stewards were of the view that as T Walsh shifted in across SING STAR he was just short of two lengths clear as SING STAR began to race more forward and as a result V Arnott elected to shift out around LIMESTONE COAST.
Stewards issued T Walsh with a reprimand for shifting in when not sufficiently clear and advised him that whilst they accept that SING STAR was quickly racing forward at the time he crossed, he must in future make a greater effort to protect his fellow riders.

As the gates opened, CONFOUNDED was tightened momentarily between runners.
MANNING was inclined to roll out under pressure from about the 150 mark and as a consequence CONFOUNDED which was commencing to roll in whilst racing forward behind that runner had to momentarily steady.
S Bailey rider of MANNING was advised by stewards that under similar circumstance they would expect him to stop and straighten his mounts.
Mr S Clarke trainer of CONFOUNDED was fined $50 (AR 140b) in that he presented his runner with the incorrect gear.
B Davis rider of the second placegetter TENNESSEE CAT lodged a protest against 1st placegetter MANNING being declared the winner alleging interference at about the 150 meters.
