RACE 1: BENCHMARK 54 HANDICAP 1300M
CRACKAJACK (B Davis) – Slow to muster early speed.
ROYALS (R Vigar) – Bounded at the start losing several lengths.
CHICA CALIENTE (K Brooks) – Bumped at the 700m.
SUPER SWIFT (M Tyndall) – Raced wide throughout and compounded in the straight. Trainer C Pollard advised that the gelding will not continue its current preparation in his stable.
CLAIR (W Davis) – Raced wide in running and compounded from the 600m. At race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer C Pollard advised that the mare will not continue its current preparation in his stable.
RACE 2 – TROBIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
FLAMES OF LIFE (C Spry) – Bounded at the start, losing ground.
RACE 3 – 0 - 64 HANDICAP 1200M
PHOENIX ARIZONA(NZ) (S Altieri) – Angled outwards across heels for a clear run near the 150m.
WISEN UP (R Vigar) – Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
BRIMARVI CUGAT (M Tyndall) – Dwelt at the start and lost several lengths.
MERVEILLE (R Oakford) – Commenced to lay inwards when tested with the whip on straightening. In attempting to change his whip to his left hand the rider had difficulty riding his mount along between the 250m and the 100m as the gelding continued to lay inwards. Trainer L Walling-Denton undertook to experiment with a gear change in an attempt to rectify the gelding’s racing manner.
RACE 4 – 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1100M
Stewards interviewed trainer C Pollard in regards to the riding instructions he intended to give each jockey as his stable had three runners in the event.
QUIET REFLECTION ($6) - was declared a late withdrawal at 5.03pm by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice when the gelding was found to be mildly lame in the near fore. Stewards ruled that all bets placed on QUIET REFLECTION were to be refunded and the following deductions were applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 5.03pm.

KING KAZOU (B Davis) – When questioned regarding the unplaced performance rider advised that despite being ridden vigorously from the barriers, the gelding failed to display its customary early speed and whilst obliged to race 3 wide without cover, his mount was under pressure on straightening and failed to finish the race off as anticipated. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
JOLLY BOY (M Tyndall) – Bounded at the start and lost ground. In this incident the gelding struck its off shoulder on the barrier gate. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
BENGALI (S Altieri) – Bumped at the start.
MELANION (C Spry) – Commenced awkwardly.
TIGRA (F Bergstrand) – Bounded at the start.
MI BEL FIO (W Davis) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.
RACE 5 – BENCHMARK 76 HANDICAP 1000M
PAGO ROCK (C Spry) – Slow into stride and failed to muster early speed.
ALCOBRO (B Davis) – When questioned regarding the performance rider advised that in his opinion the gelding may have not been suited to the distance of today’s event. Trainer G Clarke agreed with these comments and advised that the gelding will race over an increased distance at its next start.
Post race samples were taken from all winners and KING KAZOU. Pre race samples were taken from ROYALS, PHEONIX ARIZONA, BE COOL YOLANDER, KING KAZOU & RED MAGNET.
Race 2 – Trainer G Lefoe was reprimanded for negligence in presenting his runners late to the enclosure – AR175(k)
